Student has to submit this challan at Cash Counter any branch of selected Bank (Bank of Maharashtra /HDFC Bank). This challan is divided into 3 sections. After receipt of payment, Bank will give you 2 parts of challan with Stamp of Bank. Student need to submit University Copy of Stamped Challan along with Application form printout to University

If You select payment method as Online payment, you will be redirected to University payment gateway website. Please follow the procedure of website. After successful payment, your online payment receipt will be get genereted which will get printed along with "Application form Print"as a last page.

2. You will not be admitted to the Entrance Examination Hall without Hall Ticket.

PhD Entrance Test in Museology 2013

Applications are invited for admission to the Department of Museology, University of Calcutta (1 Reformatory Street, Kolkata 700 027) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to PhD degree in Museology. Candidates desiring to pursue research work in the Department may apply in the prescribed pro-forma (can be downloaded from the University website) by paying Rs. 100/- through a Challan obtainable from the University Cash Counter by 3rd October 2013.

Eligible candidates (having Master’s Degree in relevant subjects) will have to appear in an Entrance Test of 100 marks, to be held in this Department on 8th November 2013, comprising a written examination, followed by an interview. Those candidates who have already passed UGC (JRF) Examinations/ NET/ SET/ SLET or equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil. or equivalent examination need not appear in the written examination and can directly appear in the interview. Details of the Entrance Test are given below:

1) The Written Examination of one and a half hour duration shall comprise 5 Questions of 4 marks each, based on a relevant paragraph to assess research aptitude; 15 Multiple Choice Type Questions of 2 marks each, from the core subjects; and 25 marks for a Research Proposal. There will be no negative markings.

2) Questions would be based mainly on the first three papers of the current MA/ M.Sc. Museology syllabus, viz., Organization & Management, Exhibition & Education, and Care & Conservation, though relevant other areas like, Basic Computer Applications, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Analytical Abilities, etc., may also be covered.

3) Candidates getting 40% and above in the written examination will qualify for interview of 25 marks. Date for the interview would be displayed in the Departmental Notice Board.

About the Seminar

The detective fiction does not have that status, at least in Urdu Literature, which it deserves. There are a number of reasons, say objections, for not considering it as part of literature. One among them is that it belongs to popular literature which is written, keeping the dispositions and standards of the people in view for their entertainment. The focus of such type of writing is only crime and criminals. These writings neither have their values nor their tradition. Whereas in English literature, there is a strong tradition of detective fiction writing. As the famous writers of English literature, like Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Stephen Leacock, Edgar Wallace, Agatha Christie, Rider Haggard etc. have contributed with their valuable writings and established the tradition of detective writings in English.

It is true that the detective fiction was introduced in Urdu literature with the translations of English detective fiction. No famous Urdu writer of high repute has written the detective fiction, except a few, like Mirza Mohammed Hadi Ruswa, Krishan Chander, Izhar Asar and modern short story writer Surendra Prakash. If the detective fiction in Urdu, is the result of potentiality and efforts of detective fiction writers only through the translated works, it means that the detective fiction in Urdu does not have its own tradition and values. If it is so, then how would we have to interpret the mysterious activities and sacraments found in Qasas-ul-Ambia to Urdu Daastanen, Hindu myths to Allegories in Urdu.

UGC invites proposals for Major Research Project

The University Grants Commission invites proposals for Major Research Projects for Teachers.

The teachers on permanent/regular roster in the University are eligible to apply.

Retired teachers can also apply under the scheme up to the age of 67 years.

The beneficiaries of MRP scheme, who have submitted the final report of the project but have not completed a gap of one year as yet, are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply under the scheme.

Teachers who have already been availing fellowship/research project/research award under the UGC’s schemes or receiving funds for research project from any other agency, need not apply.

The teachers should apply for Major Research Projects through ONLINE mode only. In no case, hard copy of the Major Research Proposals will be accepted. Thus, those teachers who have already submitted the hard copies of their proposals are also needed to resubmit their application ONLINE.

Before submitting proposals, the teachers are requested to follow the UGC XII Plan Major Research Project guidelines in letter and spirit.
