National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test MDS - 2013 (NEET-MDS-2013)



Applications are invited in the prescribed form through online mode only for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test MDS - 2013 (NEET-MDS-2013) to be conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday, the 13th January, 2013 for admission in various Postgraduate (MDS) courses in Dental Colleges in the country.

Eligibility Criteria:(1) Only Indian nationals possessing BDS degree from a recognized Dental College or a foreign degree included in the schedules of the Indian Dental Council Act, 1956 and full registration either from the Dental Council of India or State Dental Council after completing the compulsory rotating internship and should complete the required period of 12 months preregistration internship from a recognized Hospital on or before 31st March, 2013.

The prospectus is available on the website The cost of Application-cum-Examination fee is Rs.1000/-(Rs.800/- in case of SC/ST candidates)

A candidate can submit application only through On-Line mode. Please follow instructions in the help manual before filling the online application form which will be available from 14.11.2012 on website . The last date for submission of online application is 10.12.2012 (upto 5.00 PM).

IGNOU student wins award in Japan

Kaushalendra Pratap Singh , a Research and Training Assistant (RTA) at the Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) School of Social Work (SOSW), has won the Young Innovator Award 2012 silver medal at the 26th Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Annual Conference held in Japan from Oct 16-18.

Singh won the award for his paper on 'Reaching the unreached – IGNOU’s intervention in Tihar Central Jail, New Delhi.'

About 250 papers were presented under the various eight sub-themes during the plenary and parallel sessions of the three day meet. Over 300 participants from around 24 countries across the world participated in the conference on “Expanding the Frontiers of Knowledge through Open and Distance Learning in Changing Societies”.

In his paper, Singh highlighted IGNOU’s intervention in the Tihar Central Jail, New Delhi. The University provides education to the disadvantaged and unreached learners (some of them living in special circumstances) to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education.

Tihar Central Jail is one of the largest prisons in the world, housing about 12,000 prisoners in 10 jails.

More than 530 prisoners are enrolled in various IGNOU programmes ranging from certificate to post graduation. SOSW facilitates the coordination of the IGNOU Study Centre at Tihar.

IGNOU faculty, research scholars and students visit Tihar thrice-a-week to reach out to the inmates with educational programmes as well as counselling services. The University has also facilitated placement opportunities for several outgoing inmates.

The MBA (Banking & Finance) Programme, specifically designed for Bankers, is offered through countrywide network of Study Centres of IGNOU. Developed collaboratively by School of Management Studies, IGNOU and the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), Mumbai, the Programme uses standard IGNOU multi-media design and technology aided delivery systems. The University announces admissions to the MBA (Banking & Finance) Programme for the session starting from January, 2013.


In order to seek admission to this Programme, a candidate should: (a) be a graduate of a recognized University, (b) have passed the CAIIB examinations of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mumbai and awarded the requisite qualification/credentials thereof by the Institute, and (c) have been working in the Banking or Financial Service Sector for a period of at least two years.

‘Student Handbook & Prospectus’ can be obtained from Registrar, Student Registration Division, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110 068 or from any of the IGNOU Regional Centres whose addresses are listed in the website, in person on payment of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) in cash or through post by sending an IPO/Demand Draft of Rs.550/- (Rupees Five Hundred Fifty only) drawn in favour of ‘IGNOU’ payable at the city from where the Prospectus is requested. Numbers of seats for MIB and MHROD is 73 (62+11) for each Program (General -31, OBC – 17, SC – 9, ST – 5 = 62). As per University rules, the seats for PH,CW, and foreign students (FS) categories are supernumerary. Over and above 62 seats, there are 11 seats (2 PH, 3 CW, and 6 FSseats = 11).

There are four modes of applying to the MIB-MHROD courses.

(i) Prospectus &Application form can be obtained and submitted by paying application fees through bank draft.

(ii) Prospectus & Application form can also be downloaded from and and submitted, by post or by hand, by paying the fees as mentioned above.

(iii) Prospectus &Application Form can be obtained by post from The Section Officer, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 by adding Rs.100 to the fees mentioned above according to the respective category fee along with one self-addressed envelope (28cmsX22cms).

(iv) Student can also apply online through by adding Rs.150 as convenience charges to the application fees.

The candidate should have completed the Bachelor's Degree with minimum of 50 % aggregate marks in any stream from a recognized university.

The candidate appearing in the final year examination can apply but the candidate must have secured minimum 50% (aggregate) marks till the previous year’s examination.

However, the candidate must submit his/her graduation completion certificates till September 30, 2012 failing which he/she shall be de-registered.

The attendance on the rehearsal is mandatory and you will be required to collect your gown at the time of rehearsal.
