Nomination of Indian scientists to visit abroad under International Collaboration / Bilateral Exchange Programme during 2010-2011

Nomination of Indian scientists to visit abroad under International Collaboration / Bilateral Exchange Programme during 2010-2011.

On the recommendations of the Inter-Academy Exchange Committee, the Academy has short-listed the name of 67 Indian Scientists (List placed at APPENDIX-I) to visit abroad to under International Collaboration/Bilateral Exchange Programme during 2010-2011 with 50% travel support. The local hospitality and internal travel will be borne by the host Academy/Organization in the visiting country as per the norms. With the objective to develop long term scientific linkages among Indian and Foreign Scientists, the Scientists nominated under the Exchange Programme are expected to develop Joint Research Project(s) with their counterpart host abroad in consonant with the regular ongoing research programme in the Department/Institution.

The selected Scientists may send to the Academy (INSA) the following documents duly completed through proper channel along with their consent on the offer (one copy of the documents by post and one copy through E-mail:

1. Form of Proposal (APPENDIX-II)
2. Certificate duly signed by the Head of the Organisation/Institute (APPENDIX-III)
3. Outline of the research proposal to be initiated with the host scientist abroad.

According to the guidelines of the Academy, the Scientists considered for nomination under the programme are expected to undertake the visit within the financial year up to 31st March 2011 and it is subject to the acceptance by the host Academy /Organisation. In the absence of the acceptance to this offer and the above documents by 31st October 2010, it will be presumed that the Scientist is not interested in availing the offer and the nomination will be automatically stand cancelled.

In case the visit is planned prior to June 2010, the above papers may be sent immediately.

How to apply:

Candidates, who are appearing for CAT-2009 during November 28, to December 07, 2009 are required to do the following.

a. Fill the relevant circle for IIML FPM admissions in the CAT-2009 Registration Performa under Applications to programmes of IIMs/Non-IIMs, Column no 4, (item no 3.), and

b. Download the separate Application Form for IIML FPM admissions from

Candidates, who use their scores of other examinations such as GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF of UGC/CSIR are required to download the IIML FPM Application Form from the above site.

A candidate is eligible to submit applications to a maximum of two areas. In such cases, two sets of the application form, one for each area, with all supporting documents (including copies of mark sheet and certificates of all public examinations starting from 10th, experience certificate, relevant score card, age proof, etc) attached separately with each form may be sent together in one envelop. Completed application forms along with a draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of IIM Lucknow payable at Lucknow should be sent to the following address. The application form can also be obtained from the office on request. Such requests along with a draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- in case of SC/ST) must reach the following address on or before 31 January, 2010.

The Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, is a National Institute under the aegis of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, engaged in research and developmental work on the utilization of natural resources with emphasis in the area of mineral processing and development of materials. The Institute invites applications from young and meritorious Indian nationals who are creative, have passion and desire to pursue R&D in frontier areas. Tenure - Maximum for 5 years.

- B.E. / B.Tech. in Mineral / Metallurgical / Ceramic / Environmental / Mechanical / Chemical Engineering with valid GATE scorecard. M.Tech. / M.E. candidates are not eligible for this Fellowship. The selected
candidates will have to pursue Ph.D.

: Maximum 28 years (relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST / Women / OBC & PWD as per rules).

Stipend : Rs.12,000/- per month for an initial period of two years. May be upgraded as SRF-GATE after completion of 2 years on the basis of performance with Rs.14,000/- stipend per month. In addition, contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per annum is also available to each fellowship as per CSIR guidelines.

Mode of selection : Selection will be based on candidates’ academic record and interview who fulfills all the eligibility criteria as per the above prescribed qualification/valid GATE score/maximum age etc. The applications as received up to 31st March, 2010 / 30th June, 2010 / 30th September, 2010 will be scrutinized separately and they will be called for interview on different dates depending upon the number of candidates available. A candidate considered for one phase of selection will not be considered for remaining phase(s).

The cut off date for determining maximum age / qualification, etc., will be the last date of receipt of applications, i.e., 1st phase – 31st March, 2010; 2nd phase – 30th June, 2010 and 3rd phase – 30th September, 2010.
