Admission Notice 2009 in Tea Technology

P.G. Diploma Course in Tea Technology and Plantation Management (PGDTTPM)

Dibrugarh University in consultation with the Tea Industries has been conducting a course on Post Graduate Diploma in Tea Technology and Plantation Management (PGDTTPM) from the session 2007-2008. The course is of 2 (two) semesters with a total duration of 1 (one) year.

Eligibility criteria for admission:

1. Candidates having Bachelor degree in any stream including engineering/technology from any recognised University securing at least 40% marks in Major or 45% in aggregate. There shall be relaxation of 5% marks for candidates from the SC/ST/OBC categories.

2. Candidates appearing/due to appear in the final year of their respective qualifying examinations in April/May 2009 are also eligible to apply, but their eligibility for admission shall be considered only when they obtain the minimum qualifying marks and produce original mark sheet of the final year at the time of admission.

Method of Selection for admission:

Selection of candidates for admission will be made on merit and an entrance test followed by an interview and group discussion. The question paper shall be of 50 marks, two-hour duration and will consist of objective type questions on general awareness, quantitative aptitude, test of reasoning and basic knowledge on tea and its industry. There shall be no negative marking. There shall also be 50 marks for interview/group discussion, career and extra curricular activities

Test Centres:

The venue for the Entrance Test will be Centre for Tea and Agro Studies, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh-786004.

How to apply for admission to the course:

Applications in prescribed forms and prospectus may be obtained from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Dibrugarh University on payment of Rs.400/- in cash or through Demand Draft (DD) in favour of the Registrar, Dibrugarh University drawn at the State Bank of India, Dibrugarh University Branch (Code No. 2051). Prospectus cum application forms can also be obtained through post by sending a request letter along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 400/- and a self-addressed stamped (Rs.30/-) envelope of 28 x 12 cm. size, to the Deputy Registrar (Academic) Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh 786004. The University however, will not be responsible for non- delivery/ late delivery of forms sent via post. Downloaded forms from University website (www.dibru.ac.in ) accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs. 400/- as particulars mentioned above are also acceptable.

Completed Application forms accompanied by attested copies of all relevant documents are to be submitted to the Director in-charge, Centre for Tea and Agro Studies, Dibrugarh University on or before the last date of submission of application forms.

1. 2nd June, 2009 --- Sale of Prospectus cum Application form.

2.24th July, 2009 --- Last date for submission of Application forms.

3. 26th July, 2009 --- Date of Entrance Test.

4. 27th July, 2009 --- Declaration of Results of Entrance Test

5. 3rd & 4th August, 2009 --- Interview and Group Discussion

6. 6th August, 2009 --- Declaration of results and merit list

7. 10th August, 2009 --- Admission

8. 17th August, 2009 --- Commencement of classes
