CONDUCT OF NATA FOR ADMISSION TO B.ARCH COURSE ACADEMIC SESSION 2009-10


The council of Architecture (COA), through its academic unit - National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) at Pune, is conducting a National Aptitude test in Architecture (NATA) for admission to first year of 5 year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree course for various COA approved architectural institutes in the country, for the academic session 2009-10. It may be noted that as per the minimum standards prescribed by COA under the Architects Act, 1972, the admission of candidates to first year of 5 -year B.Arch degree courses shall be subject to their passing an aptitude test in architecture.

Eligibility Criteria: The eligibility criteria for admission to 5 year B.Arch Course shall be as follows:-

10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board / University with Mathematics as a subject of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks OR

10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central / State Governments with 50% aggregate marks OR

International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 year of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

NATA shall be conducted at various designated Test Centers in COA approved architectural institutes in the country on all working days commencing from March 15, 20009. The registration for NATA at the designated test centers have begun w.e.f March 1, 2009 . For appearing in NATA, the candidates are advised to access NATA website: www.nata.in to download the information brochure and the list of participating institutes, NATA 2009 brochure and pre-registration form. After conduct of NATA, the admission shall be carried out by respective Government / Competent Authority / Association of Architectural Institutes in the State, based on the valid NATA score and marks secured in the qualifying examination in the ratio of 50:50. A NATA score shall be valid for 2 years for the purpose of admission to 5 year B.Arch degree course in and architectural institution. The prospective students are also advised to confirm the approval status of institutes from COA website before taking admission in any institution in the country.

After admission to 5 year B.Arch degree course, all COA approved architectural institutes in the country shall be required to submit to COA, a list of students admitted as per the intake sectioned by COA for the academic session 2009-10 for enabling COA to allot Enrolment Nos. to these students. The students shall be required to furnish their Enrolment NOs. at the time of applying for registration as an architect with the council.
