M.Phil/Ph.D Admissions
Facilities are available for research Courses leading to the award of M.Phil/Ph.D. degree in all the faculties of the University. Admission to the said Course is made according to the rules and regulations prescribed by the Academic Council and as enforced in the University subject to amendments from time to time. The admission to M.Phil/Ph.D. is granted by the Academic Council on the recommendation of the respective Board of Studies / Committee for Advanced Studies and Research and the Faculty. However, each Department of Study has different procedure for the selection of candidates for admission, the details of which may be obtained from the Chairman, Department of Studies concerned.
A candidate will be eligible for admission to a Course of study leading to the degree of M.Phil / Ph.D. if he/she has passed the Master's Degree examination (M.A., M. Sc., M. Com. etc.) from this University or an equivalent examination recognised by this University, with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade in a subject relevant to his/her proposed field of Research, provided that he/she also had obtained not less than 50% marks at his/her Bachelor's Degree examination, subject to any further requirements for eligibility that may be laid down by the Board of Studies concerned from time to time. For details the respective Chairmen of the Departments of Studies may be approached. Candidates possessing M.A. Degree in Public Administration may be admitted to the Course of study leading to award of Ph. D. Degree inPublic Administration.
Provided further that in the Faculties of Engineering and Technology, Medicine and Unani Medicine candidates who have obtained the Master's degree of this University or a degree from any other University recognised by this University to be its equivalent, may be eligible for admission to the Course in the same or related discipline leading to the M.Phil. / Ph.D. degree in the Faculties aforesaid, but in such cases the admission shall be provisional and shall not be confirmed unless the candidate has passed a written and/or practical test including a viva voce, if deemed necessary, conducted by the Board of Studies concerned.
HOW TO OBTAIN ADMISSION FORM : The prescribed Application Form and relevant information shall be available online through Internet in the month of May 2009. Candidates may download the prescribed Application Forms from the following website :

ADMISSION TO M.PHIL / PH. D. COURSE SHALL BE DONE ONCE A YEAR.
The Application Form duly filled in will be submitted alongwith a crossed Demand Draft or Cash Receipt of Rs. 1000 /- to the Chairman, Department of Studies concerned of this University or Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit complete in all respects along with a well designed synopsis or a proposed plan of work on or before the last date. 06.07.2009 No University employee or an employee of another organization will be allowed to complete admission formalities until and unless he / she submits Leave Sanction Order from the competent authority for the whole duration of the Course as the M. Phil./Ph.D. is a full time Course with the condition of regular attendance according to the regulations framed by the Academic Council.
NOTE Prescribed Application Form and Thrust Areas of Research shall be made available online through Internet from the month of May, 2009.
