How To Apply:

Student aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis needs
to follow the 3 stages mentioned below:

Stage-1: SET Test

(a)Register online at www.set-test.org
Candidates can register either for General or for Design or for both.
(b) Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 800/- on this website for both streams.
(c) On closing of Registration, print “Admit Card” from the website.
(d) Paste a recent photograph on the Admit Card.
(e) Bring the Admit Card on which the photograph is pasted and a Photo Identity to the Test Center.
(Candidates shall preserve the Admit Card till the Admission process of the
desired Symbiosis Institutes is over. If the Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card will be issued.)
(f) Appear for the Test.

Stage-2: Submit Application form to the desired SIU’s constituent institutes.
(a) Purchase the prospectus and application form of the desired institute.
(b) The SET website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus &
application form for all of these institutes and also pay SET fee.
(c) Complete the application procedure of the desired institute.
(d) Apply for both General and Design.
(e) Apply also for one or more SIU’s constituent institutes.

Stage-3: Attend further selection process of the chosen institutes, if called.

(a) Each institute has its own weightages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field as mentioned in the prospectus of each constituent institute.
(b) The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.
(c) The individual institute as per their schedules will announce Merit List &
Waiting Lists.
(d) For details of selection process and schedules please refer to the prospectus of respective institutes.

Important:
(1) While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.
(2) The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.
(3) The SET Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results i.e. June 19, 2008.
(4) Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure that
a. Axis Bank (formerly UTI Bank) Challan for cash payment, OR
b. Demand Draft along with Payment Advice Form for DD payment
reaches Symbiosis Test Secretariat by 20 April 2008. Symbiosis Test
Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery or any delay on the part of Courier / Postal Services.

SET Structure:

SET duration is 150 minutes.
SET is an objective test and has 150 questions. SET question paper for ‘Design’ is for those seeking admission to Symbiosis Centre of Design and SET question
paper for ‘General’ is for admission to all other Institutes.
SET is an aptitude test and is objective in nature. Each question has four options as answers and carries one mark for correct answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

How to Register For SET – 2008?

Step 1. Candidate can select both General and Design by registering separately and making payment separately. Register at www.set-test.org. This will generate your SET ID. For different modes of payment, different ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose a payment mode and print a ‘Payment Advice’ form online.

Step 2. Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 800/- for General and Rs.800/- for Design separately if candidate desires to apply for both according to the payment mode. You have three choices for payment.

(a) CASH:
This ‘Payment Advice’ form is in three parts. Pay Rs. 800/- in cash at Axis Bank [formely UTI Bank] branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two parts of the ‘Payment Advice’ form to you. The ‘Student copy’ is your receipt. Sign the Symbiosis copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ form stamped by Axis Bank [formely UTI] and send it to,

(c) ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD:
You may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online. Follow the instructions on the website. The SET website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus & application form along with online payment of SET fee for the institutes listed on the Screen. The Institutes participating in Online Sale of prospectus are:

Step 3. Admit Card should be printed from the website. This will be operative on closing of registration on April 15, 2008 and will remain open till May 3rd, 2008. Ensure the following.
Print the Admit Card online Paste your own photograph on the on-line Admit Card. Bring the Admit card with photograph pasted on it to the Test Center in addition to a photo-identity. An acceptable photo identity is any one of the following:
• Passport
• Driving license
• College / Institute identity card
• Credit card with photograph.

At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce the photo identity as described here. Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate your Admit Card against the photo-id.
Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual Institutes. Please note that no duplicate Admit Card will be issued in case it is lost by the candidate.

Important:
SET Registration Fee is non-refundable. Please note that claims for refund of the SET Registration fee will not be entertained on any account.

ELIGIBILITY:


Educational Qualifications: Candidates for admission to the M.B.B.S. course should have passed the qualifying examination as under:

a)The Higher Secondary Examination (or) the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 year study, the last 2 years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research and Training after the introduction of 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education and must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the minimum marks in the qualifying examination will be 40%.

b)The candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure-I will have to submit an eligibility certificate from the Pondicherry University before admission is finalized.

Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2008 and whose results have not yet been declared can also apply for admission, if they are otherwise eligible. They will, however, be admitted to the Institute only if they satisfy the requirement.
It is the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the requisite qualifications for admission. Having been called for written test / counseling does not necessarily mean acceptance of the eligibility. Eligibility for admissions in doubtful cases will be decided in consultation with the Pondicherry University.

HOW TO APPLY:


Prospectus and Application Forms (A&B) can be obtained on cash payment of Rs.500 (unreserved) and Rs.400/- (SC/ST) from the Bank of Baroda Extension Counter only at the basement of Administrative building, JIPMER, from 18-02-2008 to 31-03-2008. The bank timings when the applications will be available are 9.30 am to 1.30 pm on all working days (Monday to Friday) and from 9.30 am to 12.00 pm on Saturdays.
Application forms can also be had from Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry - 605 006 up to 27th March 2008 through postal requests, accompanied by a M.I.C.R. Bank Draft of Rs.500/- (Unreserved) and Rs.400/- (SC/ST) drawn in favour of "Accounts Officer, JIPMER" payable at any Nationalized Bank in Puducherry, Union Territory. A 10 cm x 7 cm Self Addressed Label must accompany the postal request for correct delivery of the Application Forms.
JIPMER MBBS 2008 application can be submitted by an ON-LINE process (internet based) by accessing him Website: www.jipmer.edu during 18-02-2008 to 27-03-2008. The candidate should first pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.500/- (Unreserved) and Rs.400/- (SC/ST) by obtaining a demand draft as mentioned above. The draft details are required while filling up on-line form. Candidates are required to take a print of a single online application form after successful submission of data. The printed Form with candidate's signature, left thumb print and photograph and the demand draft must be sent by Speed Post so as to reach the Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry - 605 006 by 31st March, 2008. Attested copies of SC/ST certificates, medical certificate in support of disability must be enclosed with the application forms wherever applicable, Failure to enclose these certificates will render the completed applications (both Off-line and Online) ineligible for entrance examination.

ONLINE APPLICATION:

Admissions for MCA - 2008 (JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY)

Eligibility:

Bachelor's degree in any discipline with adequate competence in Mathematics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

Reservation of Seats:
22.5% seats (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST) in each Programme of Study are reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. All Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examination irrespective of their percentage of marks. 3% of the seats are reserved for the Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates. The Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates, who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examiantion irrespective of their percentage of marks. Such candidates would be considered for admission only to those fields of study/disciplines where their physical disability is not considered as a hindrance in pursuing the course of study.

Admit Card for Entrance Examination:
Admit Card will be issued by the University only to those candidates who have submitted the Application form complete in all respects on or before the last date for submission of Application Form i. e. 17th March, 2008. The University will not be responsible for any postal delay or irregularity or loss in postal transit resulting in non-receipt of either the filled in Application Form by the University or the Admit Card by the candidates. The candidates may download their Admit Card from the University's website after 10th May, 2008 and take that Admit Card to the Examination Centre with a copy of latest passport size Photograph.

Exam Pattern:
The question paper for the entrance examination will consist of multiple choice questions.

B.E. (4 Years) - Bachelor of Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

B.Tech. (4 -Years) - Bachelor of Technology, Bio - Technology, Information Technology, Petrochemical Technology

B.Arch. (5 - Years) - Bachelor of Architecture, NATA entrance Examination is a must for admission, to B.Arch courses. (No PMU Entrance Test for B.Arch)

Eligibility:

1) B.E/B.Tech (4 year) Programme
A Pass in
a) The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognised
Central / State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi, or

b) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognised
Board /University, or

c) Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy, or

d) Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India recognised as equivalent to 10+2 system, or

e) H.S.C. Vocational Examination, or

f) A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects, or

g) 3 or 4 year diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, or

h) Any other equivalent qualification.

2) B.E/B.Tech (3 year) Programme
A pass in Diploma in the respective engineering or technology discipline/B.Sc. with mathematics as one of the subjects with minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate.

c) B.Arch (5 year) Programmes
1.a) 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Governments with 50%
aggregate marks.

or

b) International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

Or
c) No candidate, with less than 50% marks in aggregate, shall be admitted to the
architecture course unless he /she has passed an examination at the end of the new 10+2 Scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with
Mathematics as subjects of examination at the 10+2 level.

2. All Admissions to Architecture degree course shall be subject to passing of National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture.

Note: In order to pass the Architectural Aptitude Test, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 40% marks.

Age: For UG admissions, the candidates should have completed 17 years of age as
on July 2008.

How To Apply:


Applications can be had from the university campus at Vallam, Thanjavur or its Information Centres at New Delhi , Chennai , Trichy and Thanjavur (the addresses given at the end) or downloaded from the University Website or obtained from any Core Banking Service (CBS) branch of Indian Overseas Bank by paying an Application-cum-Examination fee of Rs.750/-. The filled-in application must be sent to the Admissions Co-ordinator accompanied by two passport sized attested photographs, a copy of the IOB Bank Challan or a crossed Indian Postal Order for Rs.750/- payable to the Registrar, PMU at Vallam Thanjavur and a self-addressed envelope.

The details of the actual centre for the test will be mentioned in the Hall Ticket, which will be sent to the individual candidate by post. Those who do not receive the Hall Tickets 7 days ahead of the test, can contact the Admissions Co-ordinator.

Gender Equity:
As per the policy of PMU, seats will be allotted on 50:50 basis for women and men candidates. However, if there are any vacancies in one category, the same will be filled from the other category. Reservation in admissions for various categories will be made as per Government Policy.

UPSC announces Indian Forest Services on the 12th July, 2008 by Employment NEWS
Last date of Receipt Of applications 10th March 208.

How To Apply:

(a) The UPSC have developed an application form common for all their examinations which will be processed on computerized machines. This application form along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgment card and an envelope for sending the application is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country as listed in Appendix-III of Notice against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees twenty only). Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only and not from any other agency. This form can be used only once and for only one examination. Candidates must use the form supplied with the Information Brochure only and they should in no case use photocopy/reproduction/unauthorized printed copy of the Form. Since this form is electronically scannable, due care should be taken to fill up the application form, correctly. While filling up the application form, please refer to detailed instructions given in Appendix-II of this Notice. The candidate should also fill up in the relevant places of the Acknowledgement Card, their Application Form Number (8-digit) and the name of the examination. The applicants are required to affix the postage stamp of Rs.6/- on the Acknowledgement Cards and send the same along with application form to UPSC. If an applicant fails to affix the postage stamp of requisite amount his acknowledgement card will not be dispatched and Commission will not be responsible for non-receipt of acknowledgement card by the applicant. The duly filled in application form and the acknowledgement card should then be mailed in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure. The candidates should also write the name of examination viz. "Indian Forest Service Examination, 2008" on the envelope before dispatching it to "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069".

A candidate seeking admission to examination must pay to the Commission a fee of Rs. 100.00 (Rupees One Hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp of the requisite denomination (NOT postage stamps) may be obtained from the post office and affixed on the application form in the space provided therein. The stamp must be got cancelled from the issuing Post Office with the date stamp of the post office in such a manner that the impression of the cancellation mark partially overflow on the application form itself but within the space provided on the form. The impression of the cancellation mark should be clear and distinct to facilitate the identification of date and the Post Office of issue.
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee.

b) All candidates, whether already in Government Service, or in Government owned industrial undertakings or other similar organisations or in private employment should submit their applications direct to the Commission. If any candidate forwards his application through his/her employer and it reaches the Union Public Service Commission late, the application, even if submitted to the employer before the closing date, will not be considered.

Eligibility:
(1) Nationality A candidate must be either :—
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

(2) Age Limits :
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st July, 2008, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1978 and not later than 1st July, 1987.
(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable :–

(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

(iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.

(iv) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof:

(v) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st July, 2008 and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st July, 2008) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or (iii) on invalidment.

(vi) Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st July, 2008 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month's notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.

(vii) upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.

(3) Minimum Educational Qualifications

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Note I : Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission’s examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to this examination. Such candidates will be admitted to the examination if otherwise eligible but their admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation, if they do not produce proof of having passed the requisite examination along with the detailed application which will be required to be submitted to the Commission by the candidates who qualify on the result of the written part of the examination.

Note II : In exceptional cases the Union Public Service Commission may treat a candidate who has not any of the foregoing qualifications as a qualified candidate provided that he/she has passed examination conducted by the other Institutions, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his/her admission to the examination.

(4) Number of attempts :

Every candidate appearing at the Examination, who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination. The restriction is effective from the examination held in 1984. Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates who are otherwise eligible. Provided further that the number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes, who are otherwise eligible, shall be seven.

Note 1–A candidate shall be deemed to have made an attempt at the examination if he actually appears in any one or more papers.
Note 2–Notwithstanding the disqualification/cancellation of candidature the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt.

(5) Physical Standards :

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Forest Service Examination, 2008 as per regulations given in Appendix-III of the rules for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2008 published in Gazette of India dated 9th February, 2008.

The completed Application Form must reach the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, and Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 on or before 10th March, 2008.
