The University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme either on the basis of viva-voce or written examination and viva-voce both as may be decided by the University both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in various areas of research in the

(2) School of Social Sciences
(3) School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies
(4) School of Computer & Systems Sciences
(5) School of Physical Sciences
(6) School of Environmental Sciences
(7) School of Life Sciences
(8) School of Arts and Aesthetics
(9) School of Computational and Integrative Sciences
(10) School of Biotechnology
(11)Centre for the Study of Law & Governance
(12) Centre for Molecular Medicine and
(13) Centre for Sanskrit Studies

Candidates are required to check the availability of seats in each Centre/School before applying for admission in Winter Semester.

Eligibility:
Candidates are requested to refer to the Prospectus 2011-12 (available on JNU website (www.jnu.ac.in) for details regarding eligibility requirements for direct admission to Ph.D. programme under the respective Schools/Special Centres. Candidates whose M.Phil/M.Tech./MD/MPH results are not likely to be declared by 31st May, 2011, need not apply.

Application Forms and Prospectus can be obtained through Post by sending a request along with crossed Bank Draft (valid for six months) for Rs. 300/- drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed (unstamped) envelope of minimum size of 30 x 25 cms with the words "Direct Admission to Ph.D. Programme" inscribed on it to the Section Officer (Admissions), Room No. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi - 110067 throughout the year.

Application Forms and Prospectus will also be available at the Counter in the Administrative Block of the University on cash payment of Rs. 200/- per set from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on working days (Monday to Friday) during the following periods:

(i) From 7th February to 21st March, 2011 for admission in Monsoon Semester
(ii) From 1st September to 14th October, 2011 for admission in Winter Semester
