Notice for Admission to Ph.D. Program

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for admission to Ph.D. Program scheduled to commence from July’ 2010 in the following schools of basic sciences at NISER, Bhubaneswar:

1. School of Biological Sciences
2. School of Chemical Sciences
3. School of Mathematical Sciences
4. School of Physical Sciences

How to Apply

The application form is available free of cost and can be downloaded from Else, the form can be obtained by post, or in person, from the academic section, NISER Bhubaneswar, (for postal address see below). In case of request by post, please enclose a self-addressed envelope (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of Rs. 25/- Candidates intending to apply for more than one program should use separate application form for each program with appropriate enclosures.

• Fill-in the application form completely. Incomplete application form will be rejected. The application form can either be typed or hand-written.

• Send only attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.)

• Enclose two letters of reference.

• Enclose a demand draft of Rs. 500/- for candidates in General/OBC/PWD and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST drawn in the name of Director, NISER, payable at Bhubaneswar.

• Send the filled-in application forms with all enclosures to the address mentioned below or e-mail the scanned copies of complete application form dully filled in all respect to

Criteria for qualification of PhD interviews at ARIES:

1. M. Sc. Physics/Astrophysics with minimum 55%

2. JEST-2010 qualified (90 percentile and above) or
CSIR-NET (JRF) qualified or
GATE - 2010 qualified (30 marks and above) or
GATE - 2009 qualified (95 percentile and above)

3. The candidate must be passed M. Sc. on or after 2007.

4. Maximum age on 1August 2010 should not be more than 28 years.

5. Students who are appearing in M. Sc. final year exam can appear before the interview, but, if selected have to furnish the proof of M. Sc. qualification (with minimum marks 55%) before joining as JRF at ARIES.

Candidates who are JEST qualified need not apply. ARIES will issue the interview letters to such candidates.

M.Sc.(Food Technology) course 2010-12

Applications are invited for 2 year M.Sc. (Food Technology) Degree Course of the University of Mysore for the years 2010-12.

Eligibility criteria: Bachelor Degree in Science with Chemistry/Biochemistry as one of the subjects or Agriculture / Engineering / Technology. Mathematics as one of the subjects in Plus 2 or Pre University or at Degree level is compulsory for admission.

Applicants may kindly see for eligibility criteria prior to applying, as the Bank Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- is non-refundable.

Minimum marks requirement:

(i) 55% in optional subjects of B.Sc. pass course, (50% for SC/ST category)

(ii) 50% for B.Sc.(Hons.) course (45% for SC/ST category)

(iii) Minimum second class for Agriculture / Engineering / Technology

Entrance/Aptitude Test:

Students who meet the eligibility criteria are required to take an entrance / aptitude test which will be held at Mysore and New Delhi on July 18, 2010.
