IIT Kharagpur invites applications for the Joint Masters and PhD programme in Engineering and City Planning for the admission year 2010-2011. This progrmamme encourages bright and motivated student to enroll themselves for PhD after completion of first year of MTech/MCP programme.

Application for Joint M.Tech/MCP-PhD Programmes is to be submitted only by an ONLINE process by accessing the website. from 31st March 2010 to 21 April 2010. The candidate should first pay the Application Fee by obtaining a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the ONLINE application form. Candidates are required to take a print of the ONLINE application form after successful submission of data. The printed form, with candidate’s signature and photograph along with the Demand Draft, copy of GATE score card and relevant certificates for OBC/SC/ST/PD (as applicable)must be sent by Speed Post so as to reach The Chairman, GATE, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721302 by 27 April 2010.

UGC-NET to be held on 27th June, 2010

Eligibility: Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

For General candidates
, the examination fee is Rs.450/-; for Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer) , the fee is Rs. 225/- and for SC/ST/PH/VH candidates, it is Rs. 110/-. The candidate is expected to fill the Bank Challan Form in triplicate (Bank Copy, UGC Copy & Candidate’s Copy) as given in the Notification. All the three copies of the Challan Form have to be submitted in any branch of State Bank of India along with the bank charges (commission) of Rs.20/-. The bank will retain one copy and return two copies of the challan to the candidate. The candidate has to attach the UGC copy of the challan with the printout of online Application Form which he/she has to submit to the Registrar of UGC-NET Centre opted by the candidate. Please note that fee submitted by any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be rejected. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Criteria for Admission

Since BITS, Pilani - Dubai is primarily committed to cater to the educational requirements of the residents of the GCC Countries, the selection process takes place through two merit lists separately for the GCC and NON-GCC candidates. The first merit list comprises of GCC candidates. After allotment and acceptance of seats by GCC candidates, the second merit list is prepared which comprises of NON-GCC candidates. All balance seats left after allotting to the GCC candidates are allotted to the NON-GCC candidates in order of their merit. All aspects governing admission to BITS, Pilani – Dubai (including Fee Structure, submission of various documents etc) mentioned in this Admission Bulletin are applicable equally to GCC and Non-GCC candidates. Candidates who are “Residents” of any GCC Country* or have their parents as “Residents” in any GCC country will be treated as GCC candidates. The rest shall be treated as Non-GCC candidates. In this regard, all GCC candidates are requested to submit the Passport copy of their parent residing in the GCC Country with valid Residence Visa Stamp as proof of residence in the GCC Countries. If sufficient proof is not produced to the satisfaction of the Institute before the last date- 15th June 2010, the application will be treated under the NON-GCC category. Late submission of documents, after the due date will not help to revert the
application into GCC category.
