Submit a separate application on DA-IICT in the prescribed application form

Applications are invited for admission to M.Tech programme under sponsorship scheme without assistantship

M.Tech programme is offered by the Departments of Aerospace Engg., Applied Mechanics, Chemical Engg., Civil Engg., Computer Science and Engg., Electrical Engg., Mathematics (Industrial Mathematics and Scientific Computing), Mechanical Engg., Metallurgical and Materials Engg., Ocean Engg., and Physics (Solid State Technology).

Qualification and experience :

(a) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture or equivalent, or professional qualification like AMIE and other Associate membership as specified in the M. Tech. Admission Brochure with first class or 60% of aggregate marks over the 4 years (55% in the case of SC/ST candidates) and

(b) two years’ professional experience as on 30.04.2010 in the sponsoring Institution after qualifying degree. AMIE and other Associate membership holders should have valid GATE score

Sponsorship Scheme: Admission under sponsored scheme will be made in all the above Departments. The candidates sponsored by R & D Institutions/ Industries/ Engineering
Colleges approved by AICTE with full pay and allowances for 24 months are only eligible.

Selection: Selection will be made on the basis of marks in the B.E./ B.Tech degree, experience and performance in the interview and / or written test. Candidates who have obtained their degree before 1999 have to necessarily take a written test to be conducted in the respective department of this Institute.

How to Apply: Request for application form should be sent along with a Demand Draft for Rs 500/for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 250/for SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities drawn on any Nationalised Bank in favour of the Registrar IIT Madras payable at Chennai together with two address slips (50mm x 100 mm) with the applicant's address in bold letters, to the Asstant Registrar (Acad), IIT Madras, Chennai 600 036 as per the schedule given below. The envelope must be superscribed as "Request for Application for Sponsored M.Tech Programme 2010".

Candidates who have been declared successful in the DNB Final Examinations – Broad & Super-specialties of the sessions December 2008 and June 2009 shall be awarded the degree of Diplomate of National Board (DNB).

Candidates who have been declared successful in the Post Doctoral Fellowship Exit Examinations in the year 2009 shall be awarded Fellow of National Board (FNB).

All eligible candidates are requested to make it convenient to attend the Convocation.
