Integrated Ph.D Programme In Physics

IISER Pune, an autonomous Institution established by the government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development, is a rapidly growing research and education institute with a unique combination of research and education integrated in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. At present there are 14 faculty members in Physics, 260 undergraduate and 60 PhD students.

Research in Physics at IISER Pune, covers the forefront areas in experimental and theoretical physics:

· Nuclear Magnetic resonance spectroscopy
· Atomic Physics and Quantum optics
· Quantum Information Processing
· Condensed matter physics and Statistical physics
· Nonlinear dynamics and Complex systems
· Astrophysics, Astrophysical Plasmas and Solar Astrophysics
· Quantum field-theory, Nuclear and Particle physics
· Nano-science, Surface science and Advanced materials
· Interdisciplinary research including Biophysics and Nanotechnology

From August 2010, IISER Pune is starting Post-B.Sc INTEGRATED PhD PROGRAM targeted towards students aspiring to pursue a PhD degree at an early stage in their career. The program includes 4 semesters of course work along with parallel research leading to a PhD degree

Who can Apply: Students who are currently in the final year of BSc/Be/Btech and have either DST INSPIRE / KVPY fellowship or have qualified JEST with a minimum of 98 percentile score are eligible to apply. Interested candidates may download the application form from the institute website www.iiserpune.ac.in and send it by email to intphdadmissions@iiserpune.ac.in or by post clearly mentioning ‘Application for Int. PhD Admissions, Physics, August 2010’ on the envelope.

The applications should reach IISER, Pune on or before May 30, 2010.
