Finnish Government’s Scholarships for Indian Nationals to Finland in the academic year 2010-2011

To be eligible, the applicant must : -

• Intend to pursue postgraduate studies as a visiting student, participate in a research project or teach at a higher education institution or public research in Finland; priority will be given to doctoral studies.

• Have established contact with the Finnish receiving institution before applying

• Have a letter of invitation from the academic supervisor in Finland, the invitation should also include a timetable.

• Have earned at least a Master-level degree before applying.

• Not have spent more than one year already at a Finnish higher education institution immediately before the intended scholarship period in Finland.

• Be able to give proof of sufficient skills in speaking and writing the language needed in study/research.

• Be a national of one of the eligible countries listed above.

The duration of scholarship is 3 months to 9 months. The academic year in Finland lasts from September to May. The autumn terms begins in September and end by 20 December. The spring term starts in January and ends in May.

You are requested to display the above offer prominently and bring to the notice of all concerned departments of the University and its affiliated colleges. Nomination of suitable candidates, in the prescribed proforma, along with the required documents with recommendation of the head of the concerned departments University/Colleges and head of the university/Institute may be forwarded to University Grants Commission office on or before 30th November, 2009. UGC-DAAD Project Based Personnel Exchange Programme (PPP) - 2010

You may be aware that there exists an Indo-German Cultural Exchange Programme and under the ambit of item no.1.5 of the exchange programme, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) in New Delhi have worked out a programme, “Project based Persons’ Exchange Programme” (PPP) designed to intensify the cooperation through funding of scholars who would participate in co-operative research projects primarily in the field of humanities and social sciences. This offer will be applicable to those faculty employed at higher educational Universities / Institutions approved under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of UGC Act. The Programme will commence in 2010.

The details of the offer, eligibility conditions and funding are enclosed.
