in collaboration with the Centre for Social Sciences and Humanities, Calcutta University invites applications for admission to M.Phil in Development Studies (Degree to be conferred by University of Calcutta) commencing in July 2009. The two-year fulltime multidisciplinary programme is offered to those who wish to pursue a career in academia, administration, NGOs, media and related fields.

Eligibility :
Master’s degree in Arts/Science/Commerce or professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Law, MBA etc. with 55% marks from a recognized University. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per University rules.

Course Fee : Rs.3000/- to be paid at the time of admission.

Fellowships :
Few fellowships will be awarded on the basis of the student’s performance in the first part of the course work.

Application form and prospectus are available at the address given below on payment of Rs.250/- by cash or DD in favour of Institute of Development Studies Kolkata. Forms may be downloaded from the website In such cases Rs.250/- must be paid along with the filled-in application form.

B.B.A. / B.C.A. / B.B.M.(I.B.) COMMON ENTRANCE TEST - 2009

As per decision of University authorities Pune University is going to conduct a Common Entrance Examination for admission of 1st year of B.B.A/B.C.A/B.B.M.(I.B.) course. This examination is compulsory for 1st year admission of above courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Higher Secondary School certificate (10+2) or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks, and "English" as one of the subject.


Three Years Diploma course after S.S.C. i.e. 10th Standard, of Board of Technical Education conducted by Govt. of Maharashtra or its equivalent.


Two Years Diploma in Pharmacy after H.S.C., of Board of Technical Education conducted by Govt. of Maharashtra or its equivalent.

First draw the DD (The Demand Draft should be drawn in the name of ‘Registrar, University of Pune’, payable at Pune and drawn ONLY on any Nationalized Bank) of amount of Rs. 250/-. Please carry all the detail Information of your DD with you when you start filling the online form

58th Annual Convocation of Panjab University

A total number of 678 students received their degrees, medals and prizes at the 58th Annual Convocation of Panjab University held at the Gymnasium Hall, P.U. Campus here today. Dr. N.K. Ganguly, Former Director General ICMR & Adviser to Hon’ble Union Minister for Health delivered the Convocation Address and Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, Chairman, U.G.C. presided over.

Most of the recipients of degrees and medals and prizes were girls. Out of 493 students who received their degrees, 350 comprised girl students and out of 185 medal winners, 149 were girls-students.
