What is it?

RMC is a conference of the reasearch students, organized by the students, for the students. It is organized once every year by the research students of the Department of Physics at the University of Pune, in association with the Indian Physics Association (IPA), Pune chapter.

What does it aim at?


RMC's chief aim is to promote awareness among the young scientists. Along with providing students with a better understanding of the subject and promoting an interaction between research students and the subject experts. It also provides an avenue for students to improve upon their communications skills and improve upon their application value in the industry.

When did it start?

It was started in the year 1996 by the research students of the Department of Physics under the aegis of Indian Physics Association (IPA).

What does it contain?

RMC is a two day conference full of various events. There are usually four oral sessions starting with an invited talk. Invited talks will be given by prominent scientists from various fields or from industries so as to promote the interaction between academicians and industrialists. There are two poster sessions wherein posters on various subjects are presented. The open discussion after the poster or oral presentation is a key to self assessment and self understanding.

Scope of the conference

Ever since the event started off twelve years ago, it has continuously grown in all the aspects. Whether it be number of participants, the event budget, interaction with industry, or the enthusiasm of the students, all have seen growth in quality and quantity.

A new trend being set since last two year, with reputed and eminent industries sponsoring different parts of the conference.
