PU initiates steps to combat ‘Swine Flu’


Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University held a meeting with the doctors of University Health Centre and Dental Institute and asked to them to create awareness to combat Swine Flu threat. He issued instructions to have literature/leaflets for circulation among the entire University community, to set up round the clock emergency arrangements to help anyone in need. The Vice-Chancellor also advised the doctors to maintain daily record of such cases, if any. Around 25000 copies of literature in Hindi and English were got published and are being circulated among the students, university fraternity and residential areas in addition to display on notice boards and other important places.

Subsequently a meeting with the University staff, students, union leaders and market committee office bearers was held in the University Auditorium where doctors made a presentation of Do’s and Don’ts and shared with them the steps being taken by the University in this regard. Addressing the gathering the doctors advised that the Swine Flu is a form of influenza which can be treated. They also advised the gathering not to panic and to avoid crowded places, to observe hygiene.
