About Short-Term Courses The University of Delhi is pleased to announce a program of Short-Term Courses for foreign & Indian students. The first set of courses was offered from September to Mid-December 2008. The next session will be held between September and December, 2009.

Objectives: The basic objective of this Program is to provide introductory but insightful entry into different aspects of the history and culture of India and to study the various major currents of change that have made India what it is today.

3 Literature in an Indian Language
4 Indian Music
5 Science & Technology in India
6 Indian Literature
7 Politics in India
8 Indian Literature in English/ Translation
9 Introduction to Sanskrit Language
10 Imagining India: Visual Perspectives


Duration:
The courses of 10 weeks duration and roughly 40 hours of teaching will consist of classroom lectures, field visits, performances, demonstrations and guest lectures. Each student will need to enroll in at least 3 of the courses offered. The maximum number of courses for which a student can enroll is five (5).

Schedule
: Short Term Courses will commence from September 8, 2009 and will conclude on December 15, 2009.

1. Orientation: September 8, 2009 to September 14, 2009
2. Teaching: September 15, 2009 to December 15, 2009 with a break from October 1 to October 15, 2009

Fee: The fee per course is Rs. 20,000/- or US$ equivalent (Approximately US $ 500 per course). The fee shall include instruction, course material and local field visits; but shall not cover travel, boarding and lodging. However, University of Delhi will facilitate arrangements for accommodation. The students are advised to come with a medical insurance.

The last date for submission of applications for the Courses beginning September 2009 is July 30, 2009.
