Winter School - 2008 for Faculty of Science & Engineering Streams & Other Professionals

Under a project funded by Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Department of IT, GoI, it is proposed to conduct five days professional course during January 27- January 31, 2009 on“ Geographical Information Systems and Their Applications”. The objective is to train Faculty and Knowledge workers to use the latest tools like handheld GPS receiver, ERDAS software tool, Arc-view software tool etc. Interested teachers (UG/PG) & professionals may apply on the prescribed Proforma latest by 31st December 2008. There are only limited number of seats for the course. So early applicants will get preference.

The Institute will support moderate Boarding & Lodging and Training Kit for the above course. Travelling Expenses will be borne by Institution of the participant or by himself/ herself. In certain deserving cases IIIT may extend travel support upto 3 AC by train.

Admission to M Tech (part time) Programmes

Applications are invited for admission to the following M Tech (part-time) programmes for the academic session 2008-2009 starting from January 2009:

1 M.Tech (Part Time)
Departments: Computer Science and Engineering
Discipline: Computer Science and Engineering

2 M.Tech (Part Time)
Departments: Civil Engineering
Discipline: Structural and Construction Engineering

No of seats per programme: 10 (General) + 03 (SC) + 02 (ST) + 05(OBC) = 20 (Total) (3% seats reserved for physically challenged candidates as per Government of India)

Eligibility Criteria: BE/B Tech/AMIE or equivalent in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST category). Further, the candidate(s) should be sponsored from his/her employer and must possess two years (minimum) of professional/teaching experience on the date of application.

Selection Criteria: Selection of students is based on valid CAT/XAT/MAT score and full-time degree with 60% of marks throughout academic career from a recognized University or Institution. Constituent academic scores and managerial work experience are considered advantageous. Candidates shortlisted on these parameters are further scrutinized through Group Discussion & Interview conducted in major cities of India.

How To Apply: A separate application from with CAT/XAT/MAT score for MBA and MBA (IB) should be submitted to Admission Officer, VIT University.
