SECOND COUNSELING SCHEDULE

This has reference to the selection of students for the admission to B. Ed. course for the session 2008-2009 in the Colleges of Education affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala and Lovely Professional University, Phagwara. For the admission to B. Ed. course, the Second Counseling schedule is as follows:

Groups:

Science Group: Science (Medical/Non-Medical) or Computer Science or Computer Education or Maths: any of these subjects may appear as major or minor subject.

Commerce Groups: B. Com/BBA.

Graduate with Music/Fine Arts/Physical Education/Home Science (B.A./ B. Sc.).

Humanities Groups: Arts Graduates with History/Geography/Political Science/ Economics/ Social Studies.

· Languages (Punjabi, English, Hindi and Sanskrit) are treated as minor subject and they can appear with all Groups.

Please Note:

i. No separate counseling letters shall be issued.

ii. Merging of Seats: After exhausting all eligible candidates in a particular Group, the vacant seats will be made available to other Groups in the order of counseling schedule given above. However, the seats under Science/Computer Science /Computer Education will be merged only after the approval of the Punjab Government IF APPROVAL IS GRANTED BY 31-08-2008. Otherwise, seats of Science Group will not be merged. Merging of seats will be done as per the eligibility of a candidate for a subject combination and the availability of the subject combination in the College of his/her choice.

iii. Only those candidates are allowed to attend the second counseling who have not taken admission in any college. Those candidates who were allotted seats during the first counseling but did not deposit fee in the colleges can also appear in the Second Counseling.

iv. Those students who have deposited fee in the colleges after getting allocation of the seats during first counseling are not allowed during second counseling.

v. Fee: Candidates appearing in counseling shall have to deposit on the spot Rs. 500/- as counseling fee (Non-refundable) and Rs. 4000/- as part of admission fee/funds in cash. Those candidates who deposited Rs. 4000/- during first counseling but did not take admission in the college are required to pay 1500/- (Non-Refundable) (Rs. 500/- as Counseling fee + Rs. 1000/- as processing charges). The sum of Rs. 4000/- paid by them will be adjusted against their college fee.

vi. A candidate may appear for counseling in more than One Group. However, the candidate will have to deposit Rs. 500/- (non-refundable) as counseling fee for each Group even if the counseling for more than one Group is held on the same day.

vii. During second counseling all seats are treated as General Category seats and there is no division of seats between Punjab Quota and Other States Quota. The candidates should appear on the basis of General Category rank irrespective of their Categories and Quota.

viii. Eligibility: Irrespective of the ranks advertised only eligible candidates who have secured an aggregate of 45% marks in Graduation/Post-graduation (40% in case of SC/ST/BC) and 30 % marks in the Entrance Test (25% in case of SC/ST) are eligible for counseling. Non-eligible or Not Qualified candidates need not come.

ix. Attendance of the eligible candidates during counseling is essential.

x. Certificates: Candidates must bring Admit Card, original certificates/Documents and a set of attested photocopies along with them.

xi. A candidate who reports late during the counseling will be considered for the seats available at that time only.

xii. Candidates who intend to take duplicate Admit Cards for the purpose of counseling should bring one attested photograph with them.

xiii. All Colleges are required to send the details of the candidates who have not reported for admission/fee deposit within stipulated time in the College. This information must be sent to B. Ed. Cell by 31-08-2008 by giving the name of the student, roll number, category and subject combination. The office of B. Ed. Cell will remain open on 31-08-2008.

xiv. Distribution of seats subject combination-wise for each college is given on the Punjabi University website www. punjabiuniversity.ac.in/bed2008.html. Information about the latest position of seats available will be updated on daily basis. Candidates are advised to visit the website before coming for counseling.

xv. The candidates are directed to deposit the fee in the concerned college where he gets admission within three working days. The concerned college is advised to send the information immediately in regard to those students who do not deposit fee within stipulated time so that the vacant seat can be given to other candidates.
