Central Institute of Tool Design is a premier Institute in Asia to provide specialized training in tool engineering. The objective of the Institute is to meet the requirements of the Industries in the field of Tool Design and manufacturing and to train the technical personnel in these fields. The Institute was established in the year 1968 by the Govt. of India with assistance of UNDP and ILO. Applications are invited in the prescribed form for admission into the following course commencing from September, 2008.
Course: Post Graduate Diploma in Mechatronics (PGDM) For B.Sc & B.E/B. TECH
Two Years (4 Semesters):
Eligibility: B.Sc in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/ Electronics/Computer Science.
No. of Seats: 20
Course Fee: Rs. 20,000/- per semester
One Year (2 Semesters):
Eligibility: B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/ Instrumentation / Mechatronics / Automobile or Equivalent.

1) Course Contents:
For B.Sc Candidates
I Year: Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Workshop Technology I, Work Shop Technology II, Engineering Drawing, Workshop Practice, Material Science, Enginering Metrology.
II Year: Applied Industrial Pneumatics, Applied Industrial Hydraulics, Mechanical Engineering (Materials for Tooling, Design Practice, Cutting Tools, Metrology and Quality Assurance, Die Casting Dies, Plastic Moulding Tools, Press Tools, Jigs & Fixtures) Electrical Engineering, Applied Electronic Control for Automation, Micro Controllers and PLC’s. Sensor Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic.
For B.E/B.Tech Candidates
I Year: Applied Industrial Pneumatics, Applied Industrial Hydraulics, Mechanical Engineering (Materials for Tooling, Design Practice, Cutting Tools, Metrology and Quality Assurance, Die Casting Dies, Plastic Moulding Tools, Press Tools, Jigs & Fixtures) Electrical Engineering, Applied Electronic Control for Automation, Micro Controllers and PLC’s. Sensor Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic.
2) Mode of Selection:
A) Selection of candidates through Engrance Test:
Candidates will be selected through entrance test for PGDM. Selection is purely
based on merit in the written test conducted by CITD, Hyderabad.
B) Candidates appearing for final year Degree Examination can also apply provided
they secure a final pass in examination well before the finalization of admissions.
3) How to Apply : Prescribed application form and prospectus (containing rules and syllabus for Entrance Examination) can be had from LCA Department, Central Institute of Tool Design, Hyderabad - 500 037, by enclosing a crossed Demand Draft of Rs.300/- (SC/ST candidates Rs.100/-) drawn in favour of Principal Director, CITD, Hyderabad, on any Nationalized Bank, payable at Hyderabad. The S.C/S.T Category candidates need to enclose a copy of Caste Certificate attested by Gazetted Officer. Applications can also be down loaded from website www.citdindia.org and the filled in application forms can be sent to the Director, CITD (LCA), Central Institute of Tool Design, Hyderabad - 500 037 along with Demand Draft as mentioned above.
