Scheme of Post - Matric Scholarship For Students Belonging To the Minority Communities

Application are invited from the students belonging to the minority communities notified by the Central Government under section 2(c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, who are pursuing higher education, from class 10+1 up to Ph.D, including Institute/Industrial Training Centres (Affiliated with NCVT) in Government School/College/ Institute or School/College/Institute recognized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. Coursed other than those listed under merit-cum-means scholarship schemes. which is appended below, would be covered under the post-matric Scholarship scheme. Application is the prescribed format alongwith requisite documents should be submitted to the Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, Additional Deluxe Building, Sector 9 D, Chandigarh through the Head of School/College/Institute of the student.

The last Date for receipt of Application is 31.08.2008

Object: The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to the meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority communities to enable them to pursue higher education form Class 10+1 to Ph.D including technical / vocational courses of Class 10+1, class 10+2 level.

Conditions For Scholarship:

(1) Scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India only.

(2) To be eligible, Students have not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination, Students from BPL families, having the lowest income shall be given preference according in the ascending order.

(3) Scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail of any other scholarship / stipend for pursuing the same course.

(4) The annual income from all sources of the student's parents or guardian should not exceed Rs. 2 Lakh.

(5) 30% of Scholarship will be earmarked for Girl students. In case, Girl Students are not available then the scholarship are earmarked for them will be awarded to eligible boy students.

(6) Scholarships will not be given to more than two students in a family
