INDIAN ECONOMIC SERVICE/INDIAN STATISTICAL SERVICE EXAMINATION, 2008

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2008 commencing from 22nd November, 2008 for recruitment to Grade 4 of the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service, The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

For Details regarding Eligibility Conditions, the Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centers of examination, Guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the Detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News / Rozgar Samachar dated 21st June, 2008.

CONDITION ELIGIBILITY:

(a) Age Limits: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age 30 years on 1st January, 2008.

The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Cast/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes/Physically Handicapped and certain other categories to the extent specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualifications:
A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Econometrics and a candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Post Graduate Degree in Statistics /Mathematical Statistics /Applied Statistics from a recognised University.

(c) Physical Standard: Candidates must be physically fit according to the regulation given in Appendix - 3 of the Rules of the Indian Economic Service / Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2008 published in the Gazette of India Dated 21st June, 2008.

APPLICATION FORM:

The candidate must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examination which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices (Specified in Appendix 3 of the Notice Published in the Employment News dated 21.06.2008) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty Only). Each such form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerened Post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366 / Fax. No 011-23387310.

EXAMINATION FEE:

Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) to be paid through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment of fees. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).

All Applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi - 110 069" either by hand or by Post / Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 21st July, 2008

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas specified in the Notice published in the Employment News Dated 21.06.2008 the Last Date for receipt of application by Post / Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 28th July, 2008.
