UGC - 1000 PG Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC & ST Candidates 2012 - 2013

1000 PG Scholarships

University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 1000 PG Scholarships under the scheme of PG Scholarship for Professional Courses for SC & ST candidates for the year 2012-2013 to undertake postgraduate level studies in professional subjects like Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. on regular basis only.

Only those candidates who have been admitted in postgraduate professional subjects at recognised universities/colleges during the academic session 2012-13 are eligible to apply under the scheme.

Selection will be made on the basis of merit by the Expert Committee. The guidelines of the scheme, detailed terms and conditions of the Scholarship, eligibility etc. may be seen by logging in the UGC website at www.ugc.ac.in

Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted only through on line mode latest by 06th December, 2012 (non extendable) by logging in website www.ugc.ac.in/pgsprof The decision of the Commission with regard to selection of candidates for the award of scholarships shall be final.

Note:

1. Applications submitted only through online mode shall be entertained and no application submitted in hard copy shall be entertained or considered for award of Scholarship in any circumstances whatsoever.

2. Record of the non-selected candidates shall not be preserved beyond three months from the date of declaration of results.

Eligibility: Admissions to the IFBI Programs is granted based on the Quarterly announcement of academic session. Selection Process

The admission to IFBI program is granted based on the performance in personal interview and the IFBI Common Entrance Test (ICET or IFBI Aptitude Assessment Test) . The ICET contains four sections, namely English Language Ability, Numerical Ability, Logical Reasoning and Basic Checking. Continued academic excellence is must for all the program.

The enrollment process is integrated with the interview schedule and candidates successful at the interview will be expected to enroll immediately thereafter, along with the requisite fees. Candidates will be expected to accept the terms and conditions of admission - including specific items related to internship(applicable for select programs), education loan and placement assistance facility (applicable for select programs)during the enrollment. University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 2000 fellowships for SC candidates and 667 fellowships for ST candidates for the year 2012-13 respectively under Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST Candidates to undertake advanced studies and research in Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian universities & colleges for pursuing full time studies leading to M.Phil/Ph.D degree. This fellowship would be available only to those SC/ST candidates who are not availing themselves of the benefit of JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET.

Selections will be made on the basis of merit. The guidelines of the scheme, detailed terms and conditions of the fellowship, eligibility, state wise distribution of 2000 fellowships for SC candidates and 667 fellowships for ST candidates may be seen by logging on to the UGC website: www.ugc.ac.in

Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted only through on-line mode latest by 1 (One ) month’s time from the date of publication of the advertisement (non-extendable) by logging on to website: www.ugc.ac.in/rgnf

Any candidate who has passed madhyamik or equivalent may apply, but Class XII pass or Graduate candidates with Jute Mill Sponsorship will be preferred. For Jute mill sponsored candidates, those who are engaged in the jute mill shop-floor work for a period of at least one year may be directly admitted after interview without any written admission test. General candidates has to appear in an written admission test and interview. SC/ST/OBC candidates will get special preference for admission in this course without admission test.

Ph.D. Entrance Test in Museology 2012, University of Calcutta

Ph.D. Entrance Test in Museology 2012

Applications are invited for admission to the Department of Museology, University of Calcutta (1 Reformatory Street, Kolkata 700 027) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to Ph.D. degree in Museology. Candidates desiring to pursue research work in the Department may apply in the prescribed pro-forma (can be downloaded from the University website) by paying Rs. 100/- through a Challan obtainable from the University Cash Counter by 14 December 2012.

Eligible candidates (having Master’s Degree in relevant subjects) will have to appear in an Entrance Test of 100 marks, to be held in this Department on 27 December 2012, comprising a written examination, followed by an interview.

Those candidates who have already passed UGC (JRF) Examinations/ NET/ SET/ SLET or equivalent examinations or passed the MPhil or equivalent examination need not appear in the written examination and can directly appear in the interview. Details of the Entrance Test are given below:

1) The Written Examination of one and a half hour duration shall comprise 5 Questions of 4 marks each, based on a relevant paragraph to assess research aptitude; 15 Multiple Choice Type Questions of 2 marks each, from the core subjects; and 25 marks for a Research Proposal. There will be no negative markings.

2) Questions would be based mainly on the first three papers of the current MA/ MSc Museology syllabus, viz., Organisation & Management, Exhibition & Education, and Care & Conservation, though relevant other areas like, Basic Computer Applications, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Analytical Abilities, etc., may also be covered.

3) Candidates getting 40% and above in the written examination will qualify for interview of 25 marks. Date for the interview would be displayed in the Departmental Notice Board.

At present 5 Ph.D. students will be enrolled, if qualified, under the empanelled supervisors including faculty members and external supervisors. Reservations for SC/ ST candidates shall be applicable as per rules. Successful candidates will have to complete a course work of one-semester duration. Course content will be as follows:

a. Research Methodology, quantitative methods and computer applications,
b. Research/ literature Review, and
c. Current developments in Museology.
