Admission Policy and Procedure – 2012-13 (Ph. D. Programme)

Eligibility: Candidates who have appeared at Common Admission Test (CAT), or Xavier Admission Test (XAT), Management Aptitude Test (MAT), GMAT or GRE in last two years are eligible to apply.

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications to apply for SPM’s Doctoral Programme

1. A Masters Degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks, with a Bachelors degree/ equivalent qualification with at-least 50 percent marks obtained after a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent, or

2. Five year/four year Integrated Masters Degree programme in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent, or

3. A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 55 percent marks.

Admission Notice For MBBS/BDS/BAMS*/B.Pharm. Courses-2012

The Banaras Hindu University will hold All India Competitive Written Test for admission to

1 MBBS course (84 seats) in TWO stages: PMT-2012 SCREENING and PMT-2012 MAIN,

2 BDS (38 seats), BAMS* (50 seats)

3 B. Pharm. (33 seats) courses in ONE stage: PMT-2012 Screening. PMT-2012 SCREENING shall be held on Wednesday, the 16th May 2012 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres to screen candidates for eligibility to appear in PMT-2012 MAIN examination for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 17th June 2012 at Varanasi Centre only.

For BDS/BAMS*/B.Pharm. courses, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT-2012 SCREENING only.

*Number of seats in BAMS course may increase subject to approval by the Central Council of Indian Medicine

Eligibility - Passed Intermediate / 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together;

(i) For MBBS/BDS/BAMS – a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% for General-PC candidates and 40% marks for OBC#/SC/ST and respective PC candidates;

(ii) For B.Pharm. – a minimum of 60% marks for General / OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

(b) BY POST : From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1600/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 1100 for SC/ST candidates of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi. Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm ´ 6 cm size must also accompany it. The requisition for PMT Application Form should be superscribed “Request for Application Form for PMT-2012, BHU”.

Last date of requisition for PMT form by post is 27.02.2012. Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted.

NOTE: M.O./I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Application Forms from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi-221005 can be obtained by POST only and not in person upto 27.02.2012.

Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach THE DIRECTOR (PMT CELL), INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI-221 005 latest by 15.03.2012. Application forms received after the last date shall not be accepted. Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS/BDS/BAMS courses. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by 15.07.2012.
