The specialized course of Flight Mechanics needs special attention as it involves the performance, stability and control of the aircraft. Academicians require in-depth knowledge of the subject with recent advances to cater the needs of the students in the field of academics and research. The knowledge of dynamic stability characteristics and their determination using different estimation techniques is extremely important to the scientists and engineers of the aerospace organizations for the design of autopilots. National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET - PG)


NEET-PG is the eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses under ambit of Post Graduate Medical Regulations 2000 (as amended) notified by Medical Council of India with prior approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. As per the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (duly amended) vide notification dated December 21st, 2010, the procedure for selection of candidate for Postgraduate courses is prescribed as "There shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely 'National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses' in each academic year". No candidate who has failed to obtain the minimum eligibility marks in NEET-PG as prescribed shall be admitted to any Postgraduate courses.

NEET-PG is the single window entrance examination and replaces other examinations such as All India Post Graduate Entrance Examination and various state level postgraduate entrance or institution level entrance examination which shall not be conducted. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has notified National Board of Examinations (NBE) for conducting the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Post Graduate courses. NBE shall be conducting NEET-PG as a Computer Based Test (CBT) from November 23rd, 2012 to December 6, 2012 attest centres located at 33 cities across the country.

Applications for NEET-PG can be submitted online through website www.nbe.gov.in/neetpg from 4th October - 12th November 2012. All candidates must purchase an Information Bulletin-cum-Examination Fee Voucher from selected Axis Bank branches before registering for and scheduling their test online at www.nbe.gov.in/neetpg from 4th October - 10th November 2012.

For the first time in India, the innovative and much awaited concept of Meta University based on the premise that the Whole is Greater than the Sum of the Parts' is being implemented by University of Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia, at the Cluster Innovation Centre (CC) from 3rd January 2013 in form of 2-year joint degree program "Master of Mathematics Education" (equivalent to M.Sc. Mathematics Education). It marks a paradigm shift in Higher Education in India. It shall serve as a platform for communication, collaboration and co-operation among partner universities that will optimize scarce resources as well as free students from the tyranny of boundaries and the constraints of location.

Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced)-2013 met on August 27, 2012 at IIT Delhi to discuss the forthcoming admission. The admission to the undergraduate programmes at the IITs and ISMU, Dhanbad for the year 2013 will be based on a two-tier test. The first test called the JEE (Main), will be held during the month of April, 2013 (both offline and online). This test will be conducted by CBSE. The second test, called the JEE (Advanced), will be held on June 2, 2013 (only offline). Only 1,50,000 of the top rankers in JEE(Main), which includes students from all categories( GE,OBC(NCL), SC and ST ) will be eligible to appear in JEE(Advanced).

The JEE (Advanced)-2013 will have two objective type papers. Each paper will consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Duration of each paper will be 3-hours. Question papers will be in both English and Hindi. Admissions to IITs will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE(Advanced) subject to the condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile of successful candidates of their Boards in applicable categories.

Keeping in view the new challenges His Excellency the Governor of Maharashtra and the Chancellor of the Universities in the State of Maharashtra has initiated Avishkar ‐ research convention.

Objective

The objective of the trip is to expose American, Indian and Chinese graduate students to the intricacies of Sino-Indian relations, to strengthen ties between students from the US, India and China with a demonstrated interest in this area, and to learn about the political, economic and strategic dynamics of these regional powerhouses.

Eligibility

Only a limited number of students will be selected to participate on this field trip; 8 students from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, 3 students at the Master’s level from Indian Institutions and 3 students at the Master’s level from Chinese Institutions. The ability to speak and write fluently in English is required. A demonstrated interest in Sino-Indian relations is also required for all participants.

Logistics

The official trip itinerary is expected to take place from approximately Sunday, January 13, 2013 – Friday, January 25, 2013 (please note that these dates are tentative and subject to some change). The new US-China-India Center (USICC) at SAIS, will cover airfare, hotel, group transportation, and breakfast, lunch and dinner. Students selected to participate in the trip will need to work closely with the staff at USICC for booking the round trip tickets to China which will be paid by the Centre. Students will be responsible for any additional expenses, i.e. visa fees, immunizations, personal expenses, tickets to cultural sites, etc.

Applications will have to be submitted to us by November 9, 2012. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The USICC will send each student a formal letter that can be used at the Chinese embassy in New Delhi.

Government Not Releasing Scholarships to Students

Government Not Releasing Scholarships

Chandigarh: Former Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Saturday accused the SAD - BJP government of not releasing Rs. 64 Crore scholarship grant - meant for underprivileged minority students - sanctioned by the central Government.

He said as per the RTI information provided by the directorate pf scheduled castes and backward classes welfare, the union government has allocated Rs. 87 Crore as scholarship for the academic year 2011 - 2012.

Delaying all norms and rules, the SAD - BJP government gas released only 22.6 Crore for the said year, while Rs. 64.39 Crore stands as areas towards three different categories of deserving minority students, he said.

Even the release of Rs. 22.66 Crore there is discrepancy and irregularity to the RTI information only Rs. 15.43 Crore has been distributed to 21,693 students, while Rs. 7.23 Crore is yet to be distributed, he added.

He claimed that for thepost-matric scholarship in 2011 - 2012 Rs. 39.42 Crore was allocated by Centre but only Rs. 22.66 Crore was released by the state government.

However, in recent years, several reputed Indian Business Schools have also launched One-Year Post Graduate Programmes and many of these programmes are very well received by both participants as well as recruiters.

However, all One-Year programmes currently being offered by Indian Business Schools are essentially General Management Programmes. Some Business Schools offer One-Year programmes with specialization in either Ports & Shipping, or Oil & Gas, but no reputed foreign or Indian Business School offers full time One-Year Programme covering the entire spectrum of infrastructure and allied sectors. PGPIM aims at filling this gap.

Pedagogy

Courses offered in PGPIM will employ a mix of pedagogical methods including Case Discussion & Analysis, Lectures, Group Exercises, Simulations, Presentations, Role Plays, Project Work and Field Visits to enhance the effectiveness and richness of learning and in-class experience. Special emphasis will be laid on the Case Method as a dominant mode of instruction.

Panjab University, Chandigarh is celebrating the 130thyear of its existence on the 20thof October 2012. This year is unique in that the Partition of 1947 now lies at the hinge of our history, bisecting it at 65 years pre and post Independence.

A series of events have been organized to commemorate the occasion, beginning with the Foundation Day Lecture on ‘Interpretation of Early Indian History’ to be delivered by the eminent historian and PU alumna, Professor Romila Thapar.

Currently Professor Emerita, Ancient Indian History, at Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi, Dr. Thapar has been a visiting professor at Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the College de France in Paris. She was elected General President of the Indian History Congress in 1983 and a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy in 1999. She also holds the distinction of being an Honorary Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Numerous universities all over the world have awarded her honorary doctorates. Professor Thapar has been invited to receive the Padma Bhushan twice in a career spanning over half a century and is also the co-winner of the prestigious Kluge Prize for the study of Humanity.

Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur in association with Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), UIET, Panjab University is organizing Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) on October 19, 2012 at Law Auditorium at P.U. Campus. Any college-going student of tricity who wants to start his own venture can attend this event.

Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kharagpur is a non-profit student-professor body dedicated to the promotion of student startups and entrepreneurship, both inside IIT Kharagpur and outside. For this purpose E-cell of IIT Kharagpur conducts Guest Lectures, Workshops, Business Plan Competitions, provides mentorship and incubation support to aspiring student entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) being done by IIT Kharagpur nation-wide consists of a series of Guest Lectures and Workshops in 20 cities in 20 days in the month of October. Each city plays host to an Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC), where eminent entrepreneurs and industry leaders counsel students about the pros and cons of entrepreneurship as a career and how it differs from the usual run-of-the-mill job culture that has existed till now. Each EAC also features a Networking Session, where Startups, Students and the Guests can freely interact and a Startup Pitching Session, where the startups attending a session get a one-on-one interaction with the Guest Lecturers. This year EAC, Chandigarh in association with UIET would take place at Law Auditorium, Panjab University on October 19, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm.

About Make Up Test

Academic Regulations of Thapar University, Patiala, provide with a Make-up test for a student who is unable to sit in Mid-Semester Test due to hospitalization/ immobilization.

All the students who would be putting a request for Make-up test should note the following points:

1. Students must consult the health center.

2. Students taking emergency treatment during odd hours as outdoor or indoor patient can report to this University the next day or as soon as possible.

3. Students must consult a qualified doctor (M.B.B.S., M.D., M.S., DM, MCH) whenever they are getting treatment from outside. This will apply to all – hostlers, day – scholar / students staying in other towns, students on leave or vacation in their hometown.

4. Students must submit their request for make-up test with following documents:

a) Treatment slip on letterhead of the doctor (with date of treatment, investigation advised, follow up with dates, details of hospitalization/immobilization and signature of doctor).

b) Medical Certificate – in case of immobilization, with fitness.

c) Students who are admitted must produce their discharge slip.

d) In case of chronic disease with recent exacerbation they must submit old records.

5. Students must submit their request (with above mentioned documents) within 10 days of availing medical leave.
