Sikkim University, a Central University, established by an Act of Parliament of India under the Sikkim University Act 2006 (10 of 2007) and came into existence on 2 July 2007.

Sikkim University is being designed in such a way so as to make it known for academic excellence and innovative interdisciplinary research; its all inclusive institutional character and a strong instrument of regional development and cross-border integration. It can also be obtained by post by paying Demand Draft of Rs.275/- in favour of Sikkim University.

The examination fee for General candidates for each subject is Rs. 300/- and for SC/ ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently Abled (DA) candidates is Rs. 150/- . Entrance examination fee for each subject should be drawn as Demand Draft in favour of Sikkim University payable at Gangtok.

Application are invited for admission to the MBA Full Time (2 years) course 2012 - 13

Eligibility The candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (55% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ OBC), of any of the Universities incorporated in any act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institution established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. Candidates appearing for the final examination of bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally and will be required to submit the result/Marksheet by September, 2012.

In case eligible OBC candidates are not available the vacant seats under OBC category will be filled up by waitlisted General Category candidates as per merit.

Admission Procedure Candidates applying for MBA are required to have qualified in CAT-2011. The admission to MBA will be on the basis of CAT score, Group discussion/Personal interview. Cutoff percentile and selection criteria in case of tie in CAT score shall be decided by the Institute. Sponsored candidates will be selected through institute test/interview. Any student seeking admission under this category shall be working on a regular post in any Govt./Semi Govt./Public Sector Units/AICTE approved Academic Institutes /Research Organizations/Public Limited Company for a minimum of 02 years, after graduation. The application form of such candidates should be dully forwarded by the parent organization sponsoring the candidate & stating that the candidate will be relieved from the organization for pursuing the full time MBA course.

The list of selected candidates will be made available on the institute website. All the candidates are required to visit the institute website regularly for updates. No individual information will be sent.

Submission of Form The application forms completed in all respects along with non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 800/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST candidates, should be submitted to Asstt. Eligibility Criteria

Full-time Programmes

A candidate seeking admission to the M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes shall have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST candidates and Persons with Disabilities) or its equivalent grade in Master’s Degree in social sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university. Candidates possessing Master’s degree in other areas may also be considered if he/she has teaching experience or experience of working in the area of educational policy, planning and administration.

A candidate seeking admission to Ph.D. programme shall have an M.Phil. degree in an area closely related to educational planning and administration and/or exceptionally brilliant academic record coupled with publications of high quality.

M.Phil. graduates of NUEPA will be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Programme after due scrutiny by a Selection/Admission Committee, if they obtain a FGPA of 6 or above on the ten point scale.

Part-time Programme

A candidate seeking admission to Part-time Ph.D. programme is required to meet the following criteria:

Should possess the educational qualifications as mentioned .Currently, should be in full-time employment;

Should be a senior level educational functionary with a minimum of five years work experience in teaching, educational planning and administration

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is the premier national agency for the formulation, promotion and conduct of biomedical research in India . The mandate and policies of the ICMR coincide with national health policies. The Council not only plans and promotes medical research in the current and emerging health problems of the country but also is expected to build a strong national cadre of skilled biomedical scientists. One of the major mandates of the Council is to augment capacity strengthening of institutions involved in both basic and clinical sciences.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) invites applications from Indian biomedical scientists for the international fellowships for the year 2012-13.

Duration Of Fellowships

Young Scientists: Three to six months

Senior Scientists: Ten to fifteen days

Eligibility:


M.D/PhD degree with at least three years teaching/research experience for young scientists.

And at least fifteen years teaching/research experience for senior scientists.

Regular position in a recognized biomedical/research/health institution in India.

Below 45 years of age for young and 55 years for senior scientists.

Radiological Physics and Advisory Division (RP & AD) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is conducting the Diploma in Radiological Physics (Dip. R.P.) Course since 1962. This is a post M.Sc., programme and the duration is one year. Forty nine courses have been successfully conducted by RP & AD so far. The first forty five courses were affiliated to University of Mumbai, Mumbai. Thereafter the course is conducted under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. HBNI is a deemed to be University (more details can be obtained at URL link: www.hbni.ac.in and BARC is one of its Constituent Institutes. The current 50th course (academic year 2011-2012) is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2012. The 51st Dip. R.P. Course is planned to commence from the first week of August 2012. It is proposed to induct a maximum of 30 candidates (25 non-sponsored + 5 sponsored) in this course. When 5 sponsored candidates are not available/not found suitable, 30 number of non-sponsored candidates may be admitted to the Dip.R.P. course.

Eligibility Criteria: The basic qualification for applying to this course is M.Sc., (Phys.). The candidates should have scored minimum of 60% marks (aggregate) in both B.Sc. (Phys.) and M.Sc. (Phys.). In case of grade system, grade to percentage of marks conversion scheme obtained from University should be submitted along with the application. Those who await the final results of M.Sc. (Phys.) can also apply. Such candidates when selected should submit their final mark sheet by October 30, 2012. In addition to the above qualification, the sponsored candidates should have at least one-year working experience in a Radiotherapy Centre in India. These sponsored candidates should also submit a documentary evidence of availing personnel monitoring services from BARC.

In accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986) Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). Presently the JNVs are spread in 27 States and 7 Union Territories. These are co-educational residential schools fully financed and administered by Government of India through an autonomous organization, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Admissions in JNVs are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) at Class VI. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and English thereafter for Maths and Science and Hindi for Social Science. Students of the JNVs appear for X and XII class examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education. Eligibility Criteria

1) Candidates must have passed with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average of all subjects in Class 10.

2) Candidates must have passed with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks (average of 4 core subjects) in Class 12 / QE (Equivalent Qualifying Examination). Percentage of marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of English, Mathematics (excluding Business Mathematics) and best 2 other core subjects.

3) Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India / AIU. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling [Class 12 or equivalent] (10+2+3 system).

4) Candidates must have one of following qualifications:

a) Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), or

b) B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or

c) B.Sc. with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at graduate level.

5) Candidates of B.Sc. Honours must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average in their Honours subject. Candidates of BCA and other graduate courses must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared.

6) Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s programme in 2012 can also apply, and if selected can join the programme provisionally. At the time of the counselling they must bring a certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating that by 30 June 2012, they will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining their Bachelor’s degree.

Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification with requisite marks as per item (5) above. They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks by 31 October 2012. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

7) Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if (a) the programmes are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU, (b) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) calculated as per item (5) above. They must enclose photocopies of pass certificate and marksheets of qualifying examination with their application.

Eligibility:

The candidate holding BAMS or equivalent degree recognized by BHU and CCIM.

The candidate holding MBBS degree recognized by MCI.

The candidate should have passed I.Sc. (Biology) or equivalent examination recognized by BHU.

All the candidates (except MBBS) must have qualified with Sanskrit as one of the subjects in Intermediate or equivalent examination or as a part of BAMS examination recognized by Banaras Hindu University.

The maximum age limit for the General and OBC candidates will be 35 years as on 31.7.2012 (relaxed up to 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates). There is no maximum age limit for the sponsored candidate.

In case of the foreign nationals the degree must have approval of the CCIM or MCI as equivalent to the corresponding examination for admission.

Temporary registration as medical practitioner of foreign nationals is essential. CCIM or MCI should approve their registration valid for study period.

Conduct of Optional Proficiency Test for Class-X

A proficiency Test measures an individual’s abilities and skills in a domain or subject to know how well he/she has learned, understood and internalised the related concepts and principles. Such a test in language e.g may assess a student’s skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking or vocabulary. Similarly a test in Science may focus on assessing students’ abilities to apply concepts and principles to analyse a given situation, solve a given problem and conduct practical work efficiently. A test in Mathematics may similarly assess problem solving abilities and skills of mathematical thinking, mathematical reasoning and procedural techniques followed by students. Thus, the proposed Proficiency Test will mainly focus on assessing students’ abilities and skills to apply knowledge and understanding of any subject to new and unfamiliar everyday life situations.

It will be conducted in the month of July,2012 as per the following schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

(Engineering) M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and possessing a valid GATE score may also apply. For Ph.D. in BSBE, candidates with MBBS, B.Pharma or M. Pharma Degree may also apply. Candidates with Master’s degree in Management may apply for Ph.D. in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME).

Ph.D. (Sciences & HSS)


M.Sc./M.A. degree in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score. For Ph D in Economics, Mathematics at +2 level is required.

M.Tech. ...........B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc.(Engg.)/M.Sc. in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score; B.Tech. graduates from IITs with an overall minimum CGPA of 6.5 and a CGPA of 8.0 during the last two semesters in B.Tech. may apply without a GATE score (such candidates will, however, be not eligible for Assistantship if CGPA is below 8.0). For M.Tech. in Biological Sciences and Bio Engineering, candidates with MBBS or B.Pharma Degree are also considered. Eligibility for a specialization within a Department may depend on the candidate’s choice of test paper in GATE.

M.Des. ............
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture with a valid GATE/CEED score.

Financial assistance may be provided to students selected in M.Tech., Ph.D. and M.Sc.-Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programmes. Guidelines for sponsored and part-time candidates are available in the Information Brochure. Reservations shall apply as per Government of India rules. Forms can be obtained personally from the Academic Section up to April 13, 2012. The Application form and Information Brochure will be made available from 15th March, 2012. Separate application must be sent for each programme.
