Summer Program at IISER Mohali

Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Mohali was established in 2007 by the Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Summer Program at IISER Mohali

Applications are invited for Summer Research Program 2012 at IISER Mohali. Students completing first year of their MSc program or those completing 2nd year/3rd year of BSc, will be able to spend 2 months at IISER Mohali during the summer, in order to work on specific research projects with IISER faculty.

The principle objective of the program is to provide exposure to research methodology and a research environment to bright students. This exposure to excitement in different scientific fields is expected to motivate them to take up careers in science.

The application can be completed through a online form. The last date for receiving online applications is March 15, 2012.

Summer students will be paid a stipend of Rs 5000/- per month and hostel accommodation (if required) will be provided on payment basis. Each summer student is required to submit a formal written report upon completion of the project.

Applications are invited from prospective candidates for admission to the Integrated MS-PhD Program at IISER Mohali in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for the session beginning in August 2012.

The program will involve course work as well as research work. Successful completion of the program will lead to an MS degree and a PhD degree.

Eligibility

The applicant should have a Basic degree in Science/ B.Tech/ MBBS with a good academic record, and should have cleared one of the following National Examinations:

General IISc, Integrated PhD Entrance Test; JAM of IIT's; or any other entrance test for an MS/MSc program at a reputed institute or university.

Mathematics NBHM MSc fellowship or NBHM PhD fellowship.

Physics Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST).

Students who hold a DST INSPIRE fellowship or a KVPY scholarship are also eligible.

Short-listed candidates will be invited for a screening-test/interview at IISER Mohali.

XVI Convocation Notification

It is proposed that the XVI Convocation of Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, for conferring degrees on successful candidates in Research, Postgraduate Courses, Professional Courses, Diploma Courses, and Undergraduate Courses be held in May 2012. The date of the Convocation will be notified later. Candidates who were qualified for the award of a Degree / Diploma by the end of the Academic Year 2009-10 (i.e. on or before 31.12.2010) are hereby informed that they should submit the application on or before 29.02.2012 by Registered Post/Speed Post. The application fee of Rs. 450/- (Rupees four hundred and fifty only) will be accepted only in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Registrar, Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, A.P., India.

Only PhD and MPhil (Regular) candidates and recipients of University awards, i.e. gold medals and other prizes, from various regular Postgraduate courses can apply for receiving the degree either IN PERSON or IN ABSENTIA.

The Panjab University Tourism and Hospitality Aptitude Test (PUTHAT) shall be open to all such candidates who have passed (up to the Academic Session 2011-2012) in the 10+2 Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or its equivalent Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate and English as one of the Compulsory Subjects. It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure his/her eligibility and fulfillment of various conditions for admission as prescribed in the rules/regulations of Panjab University. Selection Process

Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above are required to take Common Admission Test (CAT) held by the IIMs. Alternatively, those who have qualified GATE, GRE, GMAT and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialization. Scores of any of these examinations including CAT taken during the last two years (i.e., on or after 01 July, 2010) will be considered valid. Candidates who have already obtained a two-year PGDM from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale are exempted from this requirement, and can apply directly through the prescribed Application Form. Such applicants are also eligible to get a waiver of the first year course work and can directly join the second year of the programme.

Candidates, who use their scores of other examinations such as GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF of UGC/CSIR are required to download the IIML FPM Application Form from the site

Preamble

The award is named after the founder Director of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), the late Dr (Sir) Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar and is known as the ‘Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (SSB) Prize for Science and Technology’. The Prize is given each year for outstanding contributions to science and technology.

Nature of the Prize

SSB Prizes, each of the value of Rs 5,00,000 (Rupees five lakh only), are awarded annually for notable and outstanding research, applied or fundamental, in the following disciplines: (1) Biological, (2) Chemical, (3) Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary, (4) Engineering, (5) Mathematical, (6) Medical, and (7) Physical Sciences.

Purpose

Recognition of outstanding Indian work in science and technology.

Eligibility

Any citizen of India engaged in research in any field of science and technology up to the age of 45 years as reckoned on 31st December of the year preceding the year of the Prize.Overseas citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) working in India are also eligible.

The Prize is bestowed on a person who, in the opinion of CSIR, has made conspicuously important and outstanding contributions to human knowledge and progress – fundamental and applied – in the particular field of endeavour, which is his/her specialization.

Educational Qualifications

OR equivalent Degree Examination in subjects mentioned in para 2.1 during the academic Session 2011-2012. Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year(Last Semester where Semester system is there) M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination. However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the IMPORTANT DATES Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame. Students enrolled in integrated MS-Ph D. program are also eligible to apply for JRF in subject areas of NET. Their eligibility for Lectureship will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC.

16th Feb 2012 - PU Launched Online Forms for the Entrance Test

Panjab University today launched online forms for the Entrance Test at its Computer Centre, Panjab University. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice - Chancellor, Panjab University as a test case submitted his first online Application for the Entrance Test of University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism. The Entrance Test named as Panjab University Tourism and Hotel Aptitude Test (PUTHAT). This test is meant for the two courses i.e. B.Sc. (Hospitality and Hotel Administration) and B.Sc. (Tourism Management). The last date for submission of the application-cum-admission forms is March 27, 2012. The test will be conducted on April 22, 2012.

For Online application, candidates have to first register and get a pay in-slip for paying the fee to any branch of the State Bank of India. After paying the fee, the candidates can feed this information to his/her account which will be operated through their login and password and they can update their information. Candidates will be able to download their admit card on the date given in the website puthat.puchd.ac.in. No candidates will be sent to any Roll Nos. and no admission forms will be available off line for these courses. The student can also down load the prospectus from the Website.

This software has been developed by the staff of the Computer Centre, P.U. The Vice- Chancellor, Registrar and Director, Computer Centre appreciated the staff for their contribution towards the University. All other Entrance Test forms for CET, OCET, UILS, M.Ed, and Ph.D will also be made online. Information of all these will be available on P.U. Website admissions.puchd.ac.in

Gautam Buddha University, established by the Uttar Pradesh Act (9) of 2002, commenced its first academic session at its 511 acres lush green campus at Greater Noida in August 2008. The University is fully funded by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), the undertakings of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The University envisions to become a world class centre for excellence in education with a special focus to serve the under privileged and economically challenged sections of the society.

The GPTU-2012 and GPT-2012 will be held at following centres. Candidates are advised to give THREE choices of test centres. The centre may be relocated if the required number of students fails to opt for a particular centre in a specific test.
