Winter School on VLSI Design

Winter School on VLSI Design (WSVD 2011) in three phases as follows:-


Phase1: From Dec 16 to Dec 20, 2011 (UG & PG)
Phase2: From Dec 21 to Dec 25, 2011 (UG & PG)
Phase3: From Dec 26 to Dec 30, 2011 (Faculty/Scientist/ RS)

UG: Under Graduate (BE / B.Tech. in relevant area),
PG: Post Graduate (M.E./M.Tech.(ECE/CS/EEE)./M.Sc.(Electronics/Phy& Elec/CS))
Faculty: Faculty/Scientist/ RS (research scholar) in relevant area.

This course is designed based on the demands of industries, academia and R&D for trained man power in Analog and Digital VLSI Design. This course will cover theory with practical, on available advanced technology tools Cadence Analog and Digital System Design Tools (GPDK45nm) and Xilinx’s and Active HDL with Spartan3E and Probe5. Lectures will be delivered by course experts of this institute. Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations


The Department of Gandhian Studies celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2011 in the Gandhi Bhawan of Panjab University. In the morning the members of the Faculty, Research Scholars and the students of the Department started by cleaning the lawns of the Department and the Gandhi Bhawan by removing dirty polythene Bags, plastic cups and wrappers and papers. A Special Lecture on “Mahatma Gandhi: A Brilliant Student of Life” was also organized which was delivered by Dr. Rajkumar of Chitwant Ashram, Jagjit Nagar (H.P.). The Lecture was presided over by Shri Samir Mathur, Financial Commissioner (Home), Govt. of Haryana while speaking on the subject of Lecture, Dr. Rajkumar elaborated on various aspects of making Gandhi a brilliant student of life. He referred the significance of the first step of learning a bit of better every day as everyone is in the process of self-actualization and it depends upon the initiative to grow day by day. He expressed that in the process of self-actualization Gandhi took the best and left the dirt while learning and making experiments. A lot of questions were asked by the learned scholars and students from the largely attended audience and the speaker replied all the questions very well. In his presidential remarks, Shri Samir Mathur highlighted the qualities of Gandhi having, confidence, determination, courage and leadership to upgrade the quality of life to fight against injustice, exploitation and all kinds of discriminations. He explained this significant aspect of the Bapu with illustrations of the incidents of storm in the sea while going to South Africa by keeping the morale up of the occupants of the ship and similarly at Champaran while disobeying the law of the land. He stressed that Gandhi in real sense was one of the best students of life he has come-acrossed. The programme was started with Panjab University Anthem and Professor Manohar Lal Sharma, Chairman of the Department gave floral tributes to Father of the Nation and Former, Prime Minister of India, Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shashtri and also welcomed the chief-guests, invited guests and all present in the Gandhi Bhawan Auditorium. Besides, he introduced the speaker of the Day and the Chief Guest Mr. Samir Mathur.

The Award of the best Maali of the University instituted by Professor (Mrs.) Rashmi-Sudha Puri was given to Mr. Shyam Lal as adjudged by the University for the year 2011. A beautiful Poem on Gandhi was also recited by Anshul Sharma, a first Semester student of Gandhian Studies. Mr. Stanzin Dawa, U.G.C. (J.R.F.) in the Department proposed a formal vote of thanks. The function was well attended and among those who attended included Professor S.L. Malhotra, the founder-Chairman of the Department Dr. S.S. Goindi, Former Director Gandhi Smarak Bhawan, Professor Pam Rajput, Professor Ashvini Agrawal, Professor Sudhir Baweja, Professor Raj Pal Sharma, Dr. Amrik Singh Gill, Dr. Ashok Kumar , Professor A.D. Ahluwalia, Mrs. Ranbir Kaur Talib and many others.

Applications in prescribed form are invited from Master Degree holders of recognised Universities securing 50% marks or equivalent grade point for appearing in the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT) to be held on 13.11.2011 for admission to the Ph.D. and M.Phil programmes for the session 2011-2012 in the following subjects:

Ph.D:
Anthropology, Applied Geology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, History, Life-Sciences, Management, Mathematics, Petroleum Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, Sociology, Statistics.

M.Phil:
Assamese, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics, History, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Statistics and Sociology.

Application forms may be obtained from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Academic) from 29.09.2011 on payment of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred) only in the University Cash Counter. Request for supply of forms by post must be accompanied by a self-addressed stamped (of Rs.15/-) envelope along with a Bank Draft of Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of “REGISTRAR, DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY” in STATE BANK OF INDIA, DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY BRANCH (Code No. 2051). Completed forms along with all necessary testimonials should reach the undersigned on or before 21.10.2011 along with the Examination Fee of Rs.400/- only. The University authorities shall however, not be responsible for non-delivery/late delivery of forms sent by post. Spot Admissions for U.G IInd & IIIrd Year Students

It is hereby informed that a number of students who have not paid U.G IInd and IIIrd year Tuition fee and Laboratory fee are now approaching Student Services Branch to permit them to pay the requisite fee. To give an opportunity to such students, it is decided to conduct spot admissions for IInd and IIIrd year U.G students between 20-09-2011 to 15-10-2011 at the Universtiy Headquarters to enable them to pay the Tuition fee and Laboratory fee along with late fee of Rs.300/- and permit admission for the academic year 2011-12 as per the Vice-chancellor's approval. The spot admissions will be conducted at the Headquarters only and not in their respective Study Center.

Hence, students of IInd and IIIrd year who desire to pay the requisite fee along with a late fee of Rs.300/- are advised to approach the Student Services Branch at the University Headquarters, Hyderabad between 20th September to 15th October 2011 along with one passport size photograph for pasting on CDS form and their copy of the original identity.
