Week long celebrations (1st-5th June, 2011)

Importance of the World Environment Day (5th June)

WED is a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. For global human community, our present and future depend on conserving and restoring the world’s forests. In our daily life we usually observe the effects of climate change and environmental degradation; by celebrating WED, we remind ourselves and others of the importance of caring for our environment and adopting mitigation measures for climate change. As we all know that every action counts, so we anticipate everyone to join every year, everywhere, to put aside the differences and celebrate the achievements everyone has made towards protecting the environment. Therefore, on WED, let us resolve to do much more to ensure the important services that forests provide, in our generation and the next.
