Ministry of Culture operates the Scheme for the Award of Senior/Junior Fellowships for undertaking research oriented projects in the fields of Performing, Literary and Plastic Arts as also New Areas related to Culture. The Scheme has recently been revised and, starting from the year 2010-11, 400 Fellowships (200 Senior Fellowships of the value of Rs. 20,000/- per month and 200 Junior Fellowships of the value of Rs.10,000/- per month) will be awarded every year.

Applications are invited from eligible persons for award of Senior/Junior Fellowships for the year 2010-11. Details of the Scheme, instructions for applicants and format of the application form can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry: www.indiaculture.nic. in

Applications, duly completed in all respects, may be addressed to Section Officer (S&F), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, 2nd Floor (Back Side), NAI Annexe Building, Janpath, New Delhi-110001, with “Application for Junior Fellowship” or “Application for Senior Fellowship” clearly superscribed on the envelop, and sent only by Registered Post or Speed Post, so as to reach on or before the last date of receipt of applications. Scholarship to Young Artist

Online applications are invited from eligible young artistes for award of Scholarships for the year 2010 - 2011

Ministry of Culture operates the Scheme for Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes in Different Cultural Fields to support advanced training, within India, to young artistes of outstanding promise in the fields of Indian Classical Music, Indian Classical Dances, Light Classical Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, Mime, Folk, Traditional and Indigenous Arts. Under this Scheme, 400 Scholarships are awarded every year to young artistes in the age group of 18 to 25 years (as on 1st April of the relevant year) who have undergone a minimum of 5 years of training with their Guru/Institute.

Subjects/ Fields in which Scholarships Can be Awarded

(1) Indian Classical Music

Classical Hindustani Music (Vocal and Instrumental ) Classical Carnatic Music (Vocal & Instrumental etc.)

(2)Indian Classical Dance/ Music

Bharatnatyam, Gaudiya Nritya, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Mohiniattam, Odissi Dance/ Music, Manipuri Dance/ Music, Thangta, Kathakali, Chhau Dance/ Music, Sattriya dance.

(3) Theatre

Any specialized aspect of theatre art, including acting , direction etc. but excluding playwriting and research.

(4) Visual Arts

Graphics, Sculpture, Painting, Photography, Pottery & Ceramics etc.

(5) Folk , Traditional and Indigenous Arts

Puppetry, Mime, Folk Theatre, Folk dances, Folk Songs, Folk Music etc.( An indicative list can be seen at para X-note)

(6) Light Classical Music


(a) Thumri, Dadra, Tappa,Qawali, Ghazal,

(b) Light Classical music based on Carnatic Style etc.
