B.Tech Admissions on AIEEE Basis CET Discontinued

Government of Punjab has decided that admissions to B.Tech for the year 2011 - 12 would be made on the basis of state merit of the students in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) held by CBSE. As a result common entrance test (CET) has been discontinued

CBSE conducted AIEEE examination will be held on April 24, 2011. The online version of the examination will be held from May 1st to May 15th for a maximum of one lakh candidates on "first come first basis" Sale of information bulletin will start from December 15, 2011.

Students advised to apply for AIEEE 2011 test.

It is very good decision by Punjab Government. Now students have to give only single entrance exam.

This is to inform all the shortlisted candidates of B.Tech Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering of PTU affiliated colleges regarding the interviews for the Industrial Training to be re scheduled on 6th Dec, 2010 at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College. The lists of shortlisted candidates of B.Tech EE, ECE, ME Candidates for the interview of industrial Training have been displayed on the PTU Website.

All the students are required to bring their Original certificates of Matric, 12th, Diploma (if applicable), DMCs up to B.Tech 5tn Semester and other relevant documents. Kindly note that the candidates appearing for the written test and interview should not have any reappear pending up to 5tn semester of B.Tech.

International Conference On Preparing Agriculture For Climate Change

6 - 8 February 2011

To develop a consensus global view on this, PAU are organizing a 3-day international conference of eminent agricultural scientists and climatologists at Punjab Agricultural University at Ludhiana, India, during February6-8, 2011 on the following themes:

1) Agriculture: abettor and sufferer
2) Mitigation strategies – Policy and Management interventions
3) Adaptation strategies: Genetic options/interventions
4) Climate change and biodiversity: Extinction and new emergence

The conference is being organized under the auspices of the Crop Improvement Society of India, whose headquarters are located at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The conference will comprise invited plenary and symposium presentations and conclude with a panel discussion on “Directed adaptation to climate change and role of long-term forecasting models.” There will be symposium lectures in the evenings of the first two days. One session will be devoted to selected contributory posters from bright young scientists and students.

Mimamsa 2011 - IISER, Pune

Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER)

Mimamsa is an undergraduate level inter-college science competition organized by Science Club, IISER Pune. This competition is different from the regular science quizzes in that it does not seek to test the factual knowledge of the participants. The aim of Mimamsa is to challenge the participants to couple the knowledge of basic concepts in science with analytical reasoning to arrive at the answers. In that sense, Mimamsa is closer to the various science Olympiads, although with some major differences in the skills being tested for.

There will be a 90-minutes long preliminary round for selecting teams from four different colleges for participation in the finals (for more details see Guidelines). The finals will be organized at IISER-Pune, and shall stretch over >14 hours on two days. The winning team shall receive the Mimamsa Rolling Trophy. All finalists shall win exciting cash prizes and mementos. All prelims participants will get Participation Certificates at the venue.

The Preliminary round will take place at four centers at Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad & Nagpur.

The National Magnetic Resonance Society (NMRS) 2011

The National Magnetic Resonance Society (NMRS) of India is organizing its 17th meeting (NMRS-2011) during March 1-4, 2011 at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Two Nobel Laureates; Prof. Richard R. Ernst, Prof. Kurt Wuthrich and a very eminent scientist Prof. Alexander Pines in the field of Magnetic Resonance have agreed to deliver lectures in this conference. During the first day, coinciding with the annual convocation of Guru Nanak Dev University, the degrees of Honoris Causa will be conferred to Prof. R.R. Ernst, Prof. K. Wuthrich and Prof. A. Pines followed by the Bruker Users’ meeting in the afternoon. The second day will be devoted to a special symposium on “Magnetic Resonance in Pharmaceuticals” a topic of special interest for academia and industries
