One day Principals’ Meet on the theme ““Higher Education and its Discontents”

UGC-Academic Staff College is organizing a one day Principals’ Meet on the theme ““Higher Education and its Discontents” on August 26, 2010 at ICSSR, P.U. Campus. The objective is to provide a platform to the academic administrators to discuss the issues which are the root causes of the discontents in the area of higher education and to brainstorm the strategies to tackle these challenges. The Principals of the affiliated colleges of Panjab University have been invited to attend the meet and an overwhelming response is being received.

The keynote speaker of the meet will be Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Mahendergarh (Haryana), former Vice-Chairman, UGC who is one of the eminent personalities in the arena of higher education in India presently. Mr. Raj Chengappa, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune, Chandigarh will also interact with the Principals to share his thoughts on the theme. On the agenda is the launch of the website of Dean College Development Council, Panjab University and a panel discussion with some of the eminent principals of affiliated colleges of Panjab University. One session will be devoted for the recommendations of the principals to enhance the effectiveness of the in-service programmes for teachers in higher education according to Professor Shelley Walia, Honorary Director, Academic Staff College, P.U.
