Bachelor of Fisheries Science (Nautical Science )
4 year programme (8 Semester) with interested practicals & on board training on ocean going fishing vessels

Eligibility Criteria:

Entry Qualification: 10+2 with 50% marks in Maths and 50% aggregate marks in other science subjects. In the case of SC/ST students only a pass is required in the qualifying examination with above subjects.

Age Limit: Minimum 17 years and maximum 20 years as on 1st October, 2010

Mode of Selection: Entrance Test, Academic Merit in (10+2) and Interview

Application form an prospectus can be obtained from the Director, CIFNET, Fin Arts Avenue, Kochi - 16 on payment of Rs. 400/- (Rs. 200/- for SC/ST) by Demand Draft payable at Ernakulam only drawn in favour of Sr. Administrative Officer, CIFNET an a self addressed and stamped (Rs. 15) envelope (A4 size). Nature of Award

A Gold Medal and a citation are to be presented at the annual meeting of Indian Science Congress. Medal is awarded for notable and outstanding research, applied or fundamental, in the inter-disciplinary subject / field of Biological Sciences and Technology.

Eligibility

a) Any citizen of India engaged in research in Biological Sciences & Technology.

b) The Award shall be bestowed on a person, who in the opinion of Advisory Committee constituted by CSIR, has made conspicuously important and excellent contributions to human knowledge and progress, fundamental or applied in the particular field of endeavor, which is his / her specialization.

c) The award would be given on the basis of contributions made through work done primarily in India during the ten years, preceding the year of prize (For this purpose “primarily” will mean “for the most part”).

CSIR-UGC Test for JRF & LS(NET), June 2010

CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test 20th June 2010 for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

The Test will be held in the subjects as given under:

1. Chemical Sciences,
2. Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences
3. Life Sciences
4. Mathematical Sciences
5. Physical Sciences

The test will be held at 25 Centres spread all over India, as specified below:

IIM Ranchi to launch its two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management from the Academic Session 2010-2011

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi will launch its two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management from the next Academic Session 2010–2011. IIM Calcutta will mentor IIM Ranchi in its formative years. The Admissions Office of IIM Calcutta will receive and process applications from eligible candidates who would like to apply to IIM Ranchi for its two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management commencing from the next academic session 2010-2011. Fees for the two-year programme will be Rs. 3 lakh per year.

The advertisement seeking applications from eligible candidates will be published in leading dailies and the downloadable application form will be available on the IIM Calcutta website (www.iimcal.ac.in) by the end of February, 2010.
