ADMISSION NOTICE Ph.D. (SPRING SEMESTER) PROGRAMME – 2010

Applications in prescribed format are invited from the eligible candidates for the Ph.D. programme (Spring Semester) 2010.

Offering Departments: Mathematical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Physics, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, English & Foreign Languages, Business Administration, Environmental Science, Energy and Food Processing Technology. Eligibility: (i) Master’s Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Science/ Science/ Engineering/ Technology or Master’s Degree in allied subject with consistently good academic record and a minimum 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree.

(ii) BE/ B. Tech with an aggregate of 80% marks or equivalent CGPA with valid GATE Score.

(iii) A fellowship in Chartered Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship from a recognized Indian or a foreign institution with not less than 60% or equivalent CGPA having a minimum of Bachelor’s degree.

Selection: On the basis of Entrance test and personal interview conducted by the concerned department

Reservation of seats and relaxation of marks will be as per Govt. of India Rules

How to apply: Application forms alongwith prospectus can be obtained from the office of the Controller of Examinations , Tezpur University by paying Rs 500/(Rs 250/for SC/ ST) in cash or from the designated branches of AXIS Bank at Agartala, Aizwal, Bangalore, Bongaigaon, Bhubaneswar, Dibrugarh, Guwahati (Paltan bazar), Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jorhat, Kolkata, Kohima , Nagaon, New Delhi( Hauz Khas and Lajpat Nagar), North Lakhimpur, Pune, Shillong, Silchar, Tinsukia and Tezpur ( proper addresses of the banks may be obtained from Tezpur University website) by paying Rs. 520/(Rs 270/for SC/ ST) only in cash or (ii) by sending a request to the Controller of Examinations, Tezpur University, P.O.Napaam, Tezpur, PIN784028, Assam with a bank draft of Rs. 560/(Rs 310/for SC/ST) only drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University payable at Tezpur and a self addressed unstamped envelop of size 30cm x 25cm or (iii) by down loading from Tezpur University website. Downloaded application form must be accompanied by a Bank Draft of Rs. 500/(Rupees five hundred) only drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University payable at Tezpur.

Admission Notice

Applications are invited for admission into MTech in Electronics and Communication Technology subject to fulfillment of the criteria as below:

Intake: 18

Four numbers of seats shall be available under self-financed scheme with a fee structure of an additional Rs. 25,000 per semester. Students willing to offer candidature under this category should apply separately to the HoD, ECT in addition to the form submitted.

Educational Qualifications:

Minimum CPI of 5 or 50% in BE / BTech/MSc.

Preference will be given as follows:

• BE/ BTech in Electronics & Communication Engineering
• BE/ BTech in Instrumentation Engineering
• BE/ BTech in Electrical Engineering
• MSc in Electronics Science/ Electronics
• Candidates with a valid GATE score / JRF/ NET qualification

Categories:

1. REGULAR (FULL-TIME)- The duration will be 2-years.

2. PART-TIME: Candidates who are local (from areas in and around Guwahati) and professionally employed in an academic institution / R& D organization / govt / PSU establishment / industry or reputed national or international industry / organization related to the field of study with at least two years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. A No Objection certificate from the Head of the Institution / Organization in which he / she is employed must be enclosed at the time of application as per format. Duration shall be governed by the relevant clause mentioned in the Ordinance and Regulation of the programme

Application form and detailed prospectus can be downloaded from the Gauhati University website www.gauhati.ac.in. Filled-up applications must be submitted to the HoD, Electronics and Communication Technology along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 300/- payable at Guwahati drawn in favour of IST-GU. An examination fee of Rs. 200/- in cash will have to be deposited at the time of submission of application. Last date of submission of application is 10-11-09.

Mode of selection: Written test followed by interview. The written test will be of subjective / objective type based upon the GATE 2010 ECE syllabus.

Date of selection test 14-11-09 at 12 noon at IST-GU. Duration of the examination two hours. No separate call letters shall be issued. Names of short-listed candidates for the selection test will be available in the GU website by 12-11-09.

Names of successful candidates will be made available on 20-11-09.

Date of admission / registration: 24-11-09.

Counselling for admission to vacant seats in B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) 5 Year Integrated Course

Bar Council of India has sanctioned 180 seats for the admission in 1st Semester in B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) 5 Year Integrated Course for the session 2009-10. Counselling for General and Reserved categories for admission to vacant seats shall be held on Thursday i.e. 5th November, 2009 at 9.30 a.m. in Office of Director, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Only those students who will attend the counseling with original Certificates/documents shall be considered for admission. Selected candidates have to submit a demand draft of Rs. 45092/- in favour of the Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
