Admission Notice 2009-10

Applications are invited from graduates (in any stream), within 35 years, for admission to the one-year PG Diploma Course in Mass Communication. There are 60 seats and admission is through admission test, group discussion and personal interview. The date of admission test is 23rd August 2009. The list of successful candidates for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview will be published on 31st August 2009. The Group Discussion and Personal Interview will be held on 2nd September 2009. The final list will be published on 7th September 2009. The admission will continue from September 08, 2009. Classes will begin from 16th September 2009.

Forms will be available from the Calcutta University Sales Counter on payment of Rs. 200/-from July 20 to August 21, 2009. The Application form and the other information can be downloaded from the official website of Calcutta University www.caluniv.ac.in. Downloaded application forms completed in all respects along with the proof of payment of Rs. 200/- (Rupees two hundred only) by C.U. 1. Bachelor Degree Programme (BDP) in

(a) Science (B. Sc. Honours in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology & Geography)

Eligibility: Passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination. Those who have passed B.P.P. from NSOU or any other recognized university are also eligible to apply only for (b) & (c). For other details please refer to the B.D.P. prospectus.

Duration: Minimum 3 years, Maximum 6 years

Course Fee: Rs. 1500/- per annum for B.A. & B. Com. and Rs. 2200/-* per annum for B. Sc.

*Candidates opting for lab-based subsidiary papers in Science should pay Rs.2500/- as course fee in place of Rs.2200/-. Besides Course fees an amount of Rs. 330/- (Rs.100/- for Registration, Rs.100/- for Identity Card and Rs.130/- as annual development fee) is to be paid at the time of admission in each course. Annual Development fee of Rs.130/- is to be paid in subsequent year(s) if the course is of more than 1-year duration i.e., at the time of renewal in the 2nd year and 3rd year. Students who are already enrolled in various courses of the University must pay an amount of Rs. 130/- as Annual Development fee at the time of renewal. 1. Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLIS)

Eligibility: Graduate (10+2+3), 45% in Hons. Subjects for Hons. Graduate 50% in aggregate having 3 Subjects for pass Graduate.

2. Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP)

Eligibility: The Candidate must have attained the age of 18 years on 1st July 2009, i.e. those who
were born after 30th June 1991 are not eligible to apply.

3. Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism & Mass Communication (PGDJMC)

Eligibility: Graduate of any Recognized University

4. Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising (PGDPR&Ad.)

5. Post Graduate Diploma in English Language Teaching (PGDELT)

Eligibility: Passed 10+2 or its equivalent. Candidates who have passed BPP from NSOU or any other University and pursuing BDP are also eligible.

Before filling up the application form, candidates are advised to download the Pay-in-Slip of State Bank of India for deposit of Application Fee.The application fee is Rs.100/-for each course of study applied for.This fee is to be deposited through any branch of State Bank of India by filling up the Pay-in-slip.The Journal Number(to be supplied by the branch)must be legible on the pay-in-slip,which need to be used in Online Application Form.The applicants are requested to keep the counterfoil of the pay-in-slip for future reference.
