The School of Habitat Studies, TISS announces admission to the ‘M.A. / M.Sc. in Habitat Policy and Practice’ (HPP) Program, 2009-2011


ELIGIBILITY: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,Architecture, Management, Physical Sciences,Geography, Planning, Law, or Social Sciences,with some inclination towards habitat related issues/ sectors.

1. A Bachelor’s Degree of candidate must be of a minimum three years duration or its equivalent (under the pattern 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized University.

2. Candidates who will complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by Saturday, June 20, 2009. In such cases, admission to any of the Master’s Degree Programmes of the Institute will be provisional. If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year examination, the offer of provisional admission automatically stands cancelled.

OR From the cash counter at TISS, Mumbai against minimum cash payment of Rs. 1,000/- OR By downloading from www.tiss.edu (to be completed and submitted with a DD for Rs. 1,000/-)

Unemployed SC and ST Candidates, whose parents/guardian’s income were Rupees One Lakh or below for financial year 2007-2008 can obtain the Application Form at free of cost. They can download the form from website: www.tiss.edu and submit it along with the true copy of Caste / tribe Certificate and the Income Certificate or they can send a request letter along with the true copy of Caste/tribe Certificate and the Income Certificate and Self addressed A-4 sized cloth-lined envelop to the Deputy Registrar, TISS.

RESERVATION:
Government of India norms will be applicable for admission of SC, ST, OBC, persons with Disability (PWD) and International Students. Only limited number of hostel seats and scholarships are available.

Selection procedure: Selection will be through written test and an interview for candidates who qualify in the written test.

Gender, Water and Equity: Training Programmes, April 27-May 1, 2009 and end October-early November, 2009

Organised by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, South Asian Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies (SaciWATERs), Hyderabad, Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM), Pune, and the Gender and Water Alliance (GWA).

Eligibility Criteria


We invite applications from diverse mid-level professionals—individuals working in development organisations, activists, academics, researchers, and officials working in state and central government departments of water and sanitation.

Applicants can be from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan. For the first programme, from amongst applicants from India, preference will be given to persons from the north, north-east and east India; and for the second, applicants from the south and west India will be preferred. For applicants from the other South Asian countries, there is no regional criterion; they may be from any part of their country.

The medium of instruction during the training will be English, and participants must be able to clearly comprehend and communicate in English. The organisers are not in a position to provide for translations

A participation fee of (Indian) Rs. 2,500 will be taken from each selected applicant. Further details about making this payment will be communicated upon selection.

By March 30, we will contact applicants who have been selected. Inquiries in the interim, or later by applicants who are not selected, cannot be answered.
