Who can apply:

Candidates should have a bachelor degree under 10+2+3 pattern/ a degree in Agriculture, Technology, Medicine, Education or law/ a post graduate degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from any University/Institution recognized by AIU/AICTE. For SC/ST candidates, 45% marks is required. (Candidates should also fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements for appearing in CAT 2009)

Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination can also apply provided they furnish the proof of having met the minimum eligibility criteria by October 05, 2010 after completing all the requirements for obtaining the qualifying degree before June 30, 2009.

How to apply:

Step 1:
Candidates seeking admission to FMS-BHU will be required to purchase CAT 2009 (conducted by IIMs). For detailed information about CAT 2009, please visit www.catiim.in Selection will be made strictly on the basis of the combined Merit acquired by a Candidate in CAT 2009 of IIM, Group Discussion and Interview conducted by FMS, BHU.

The FMS, BHU uses CAT for short-listing the candidates for its two-year full time Post-Graduate Programmes in Management. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

Step 2: Candidates are also required to register at FMS, BHU through separate application form which has to be obtained from Faculty of Management Studies, BHU, Varanasi from September 10, 2009 either in person against crossed SBI Bank Draft (MICR) /Banker’s Cheque of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 650/- for SC/ST) till November 24, 2009 OR by post through a requisition along with Crossed SBI Bank Draft (MICR) of Rs. 1050/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ST) and self-addressed envelope of 32x26 cm. till November 5, 2009 OR may be downloaded from the web site of BHU (www.bhu.ac.in). The downloaded application form must be submitted along with demand draft of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 650/- for SC/ST Category). The Bank Draft/Banker’s Cheque should be drawn in favour of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University payable at SBI, BHU Main Branch (Code 0211). IUCAA and NCRA:

The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, and the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA – TIFR), Pune, are two leading centres of research in a wide range of areas in Astronomy and Astrophysics. IUCAA and NCRA are located in neighbouring campuses in the Pune University Campus.

IUCAA – NCRA Admission Test (INAT – 2009):


IUCAA – NCRA Admission Test (INAT – 2009) is being conducted to select candidates for research scholarship (to join Ph.D. Programme) either at Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, or National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA – TIFR), Pune.

Eligibility: Applications are invited from students who expect to complete their M.Sc. (in Physics/ Electronics/Astronomy/Applied Mathematics) or B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. degree (any branch) with First Class marks, by August 2010. In addition, talented final year B.Sc. and first year M.Sc. (in Physics/Electronics/Astronomy/Applied Mathematics) students may also apply to be PRE-SELECTED for research scholarship at either of the following institutes:

Information on Project Training:-


1. NCCS accepts students for pursuing their projects where such projects are essential part of the curriculum. Only those pursuing their M.Sc. or M. Tech. are accepted for such projects. Those pursuing any Bachelor's degree (including Engineering and Technology) are NOT eligible. However exception will be made for those coming through national level meritorious programs such as KVPY, INSA, JNCASR etc.

2. In case of candidates pursing integrated M.Sc. / M. Tech degree those completed at least three years of such course will be considered eligible.

3.Number of students taken each year may vary depending on the requirement. Maximum two applications will be considered from the same Institute / University.

4.First class at all the important qualifying examinations is essential eligibility criteria.

5.The duration of such projects should be minimum of THREE months. Requests for shorter period projects will not be entertained.

6. Maximum permissible / allowed period is six months, however extension is possible based on the performance of the candidate and willingness of supervisor.

7. Preference will be given to the candidates devoting their complete time for the project during this period.

8. NCCS will not provide any stipend / Hostel accommodation / charges any fee for the project training.

RBI's Young Scholars Award Scheme 2009-10

RBI YOUNG SCHOLARS AWARD SCHEME


The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the RBI has launched the RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme to generate interest in and awareness about the Indian banking sector and RBI. Under the Scheme, the RBI will select a maximum of 150 young Scholars through a countrywide competitive examination and award scholarship. Selection test will focus on the role and functions of RBI and banks in India and will be held in English as well as in all major regional languages. Selected candidates will be required to work on projects in select offices of RBI for 2 to 3 months and will be paid consolidated stipend of Rs. 7500/- per month during the duration of the project. RBI will assist outstation awardees in boarding and loading. The awardees shall have no right/claim for an appointment in the RBI.

Any candidate who had qualified and worked at RBI under the RBI Young Scholar Award Scheme in any of the previous years need not apply again.

All students between 18 and 23 years of age, currently pursuing their undergraduate studies in any subject under any recognized University in India, are eligible to take the competition examination. There is no application fee. The selection test will be held on January 10, 2010 at various centres across India. The results of the selection test are likely to be announced in the middle of March 2010.
