Institutional Counseling for B.Tech 2008-09 - NITK

INSTITUTIONAL COUNSELLING AT N.I.T. KURUKSHETRA 2008-09

The Institutional Counselling for the remaining vacant seats and two seats for the wards/dependants of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peace time operations (DS category) shall be filled on 25th August, 2008 strictly on the basis of AIEEE- 2008 eligible ranks.

No. of Seats:
54 Seats are vacant as on 18.08.2008. If some more seats fall vacant, the same shall also be filled up. Most of the seats are vacant in 1. Industrial Engineering & Management (IEM) 2. Civil Engineering branches

The position of vacant seats as on August 22, 2008 shall be displayed on the Institute web site on that day.

1.
The candidates are required to come for counselling with complete application form which can be downloaded from the Institute web site with counselling fee of Rs. 1000/- (to be paid in cash) for OPEN, OB & DS category candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates. The fee is non-refundable. The candidates have to submit the application forms and counselling fee in cash upto 11.00 am for reserved category (DS, SC, ST & OBC) and upto 12.00 noon for General Category on 25th August, 2008 in Jubilee Hall of the Institute. It is mandatory for all the candidates to appear in person at the time of counselling.

2. From 11.00 am to 11.30 am only wards/dependants of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peace operations (DS category) shall be considered for admission. From 11.30 am to 12.00 Noon only reserved category seats i.e. SC, ST, SCPH, ST, OBC & OPPH shall be considered for admission, if any.

3. For the open category seats, the counselling will start at 1.00 pm and will continue till all the seats are filled up and waiting list may also be prepared.

4. The candidates are to see that they are eligible for central counselling as per AIEEE Score Card.

5. The candidates are to bring with them the following documents in original and a set of attested copies of the same:

(i) Admit Card of AIEEE - 2008

(ii) AIR Card issued by CBSE, indicating the rank in AIEEE - 2008 of eligible candidates

(iii) Declaration Form for OBC candidates

(iv) Certificate of Qualifying Examination

(v) Marks sheet of Qualifying Examination

(vi) Certificate of Category (OBC/SC/ST/DS if applicable, issued by the competent authority

(vii) Proof of Age (10th /10+2 certificate)

(viii) Certificate for Physically Challenged (PH)

Four photographs identical to the one pasted on AIEEE-2008 application form

(x)
If admitted, the candidates will be required to deposit Fee in cash or through Demand Draft in favour of Director, NIT, Kurukshetra Rs. 40,750/- (including Hostel fee) or Rs. 32,750/- (without Hostel) at the time of admission. No concession for depositing late fee would be allowed.

(xi) Wards/dependants of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peace time operations (DS category) are required to bring with them the relevant certificate in original issued by a competent authority in the Directorate of Resettlement and Rehabilitation, New Delhi of in Ministry of Human Affairs, Govt. of India at the time of counselling.

Conference Objectives


(1)
To develop awareness and understanding of the patterns and impact of global competition and competitiveness and take stock of the preparedness of the Indian industry to face the challenges of global competition.

(2) To provide a platform for exchange of ideas among business, academia and the policy makers to enable them to channel their expertise towards the common goal of improving global competition and competitiveness of Indian Corporate.

(3) To identify issues for future research on global competition and competitiveness of Indian corporate and gathering support to industry in providing the data for the same.

(4) To prepare a blueprint for future action, to guide meaningful research programmes in the country and to Help develop appropriate strategies to meet the challenges of globalization.

Conference Themes

The conference focuses primarily on issues related to defining, measuring and modeling competition and competitiveness.

Papers based on theoretical framework, original empirical research, cases, experiences or promising ideas related to the conference themes as given below are invited for consideration in the conference.

Submission Details

Abstract submission: Authors should submit an extended abstract of their paper, of about 800 to 1000 words.

Abstracts should be accompanied by four keywords, the proposed title of the paper, full names, addresses, telephone number and email addresses of all authors. Abstracts should reach the conference coordinator by January 31, 2009 . Only electronic submission in the form of a word file as an e-mail attachment will be accepted. The abstracts should be mailed to the Conference Coordinator at globalcompetition@iimk.ac.in All abstracts received by the submission deadline would be peer reviewed to evaluate their relevance to the conference theme and to ensure that adequate standards are followed. Authors will be intimated of the acceptance of their abstracts by February 28, 2009.

Full Paper submission: Authors are required to submit their full papers, not exceeding 5000 words, by March 31, 2009. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. The authors should mail the full papers to the same e-mail address as in case of abstracts. Detailed style guidelines are uploaded on the conference website. While all full papers accepted by the programme committee will be considered for presentation at the Conference, only selected full papers will be published in the conference proceedings. At least one author of the accepted paper must register for the conference and present the work at the conference for the paper to be eligible for inclusion in the proceedings.

Duration and Venue

The conference will start at 9:30 AM on May 21, 2009 and end at 5:00 PM on May 23, 2009 . Venue of the Conference will be Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode . Limited accommodation on twin sharing and first-come-first-served basis is available in the guesthouses at IIMK campus. There are an adequate number of hotels of various categories available in Calicut and the same can be arranged on request, for participants who do not get the accommodation on campus.

Registration Details


Registration fee covers the cost of conference material and lunch during the conference for non-residential participants. For residential participants, it also covers boarding and lodging(on twin sharing basis) costs for the entire conference duration. Registration for the conference can be made through the enclosed registration form. The registration form, along with the registration fee by demand draft in favour of Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode drawn on any scheduled bank payable at Kozhikode , should reach at the following address by April 31, 2009. Late registration beyond the deadline and spot registration, subject to availability of seats, will be permitted on payment of an additional fee of 20% of the normal registration fee. 2nd IIMA Doctoral Colloquium 2009

The IIMA Doctoral Colloquium is an event initiated in 2008 by the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) students of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

The main objectives of the event are to

(a) initiate networking amidst management researchers
(b) share knowledge and learn from each other
(c) explore emerging areas of research in management

Who should attend?

All students who are currently enrolled in any full time doctoral / PhD. program in any discipline of management is eligible to participate in this event.

As the event will give the participants an opportunity to discuss their research work with their peer research students and also get feedback about their research from eminent faculty we believe this will be more helpful for students who are least in the proposal stage of their thesis work.

Short listing for participation in the event will be based on merit of the abstract (of his/her thesis proposal) submitted by the participant.

We are also planning to allow selected students ( students enrolled in any full time doctoral / PhD. program in any discipline of management but have not reached their proposal stage) to participate in the event based on a statement of purpose to attend the meet. Details of same will be announced later.

Call for Abstracts

Abstracts will be encouraged for active participation in the conference. The dates for submission of the abstracts have already been announced.

The participants for the event will be shortlisted based on abstracts of their research proposal up to a maximum of 1500 words (Excluding the title page and reference). The abstracts must include a clear indication of the purpose of research, methodology, major results, implications, and key references. The abstracts should be formatted as mentioned below.

Abstracts will be blind reviewed and only those abstracts approved by the reviewers will be selected. Soft copy of the abstract in Microsoft Word for Windows should reach Institute latest by September 30, 2008.

Registration

A registration fee for participation will be charged after the entries are shortlisted. The fee charged will be INR 2,200 for Indian participants and USD 150 for foreign nationals.

The dates for final registration will be announced after the shortlisting of participants is done.

Admission Notice for PGP-PMP 2009-10 of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

One-Year Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy (PGP-PMP)

PGP-PMP is a full-time residential programme in public management and policy with a sharp focus on governance and policy formulation and implementation, infrastructure development, and public enterprise management. A rigorous programme, it has been designed to sharpen the skills and broaden the perspectives of civil servants; managers of government, public enterprises, NGOs; and executives of private sector firms engaged in public management. The programme is open to bright and motivated mid-career managers as well as administrators/ professionals of NGOs and people with legislative experience of all nationalities who intend taking up challenging top management positions in governance, public management and policy. Candidates from Asia and Africa are especially invited to apply. The programme has strong foundations in the conceptual and analytical dimensions of management and policy, and the curriculum is also designed to build on the experience of participants.

The programme builds upon the excellence of IIMA in management teaching and research and its considerable experience in policy research and consultancy to take management to the domains of public policy, services provision and regulation, and management of public organizations and enterprises.

How to Apply

Admission Procedure

Application form for the third programme (2009-10) which begins on April 1, 2009 is available online. The deadline for receipt of applications is November 3, 2008 with GMAT (www.mba.com)/GRE (www.ets.org) score obtained between April 1, 2006 and November 3, 2008 or CAT score from any of the last three CATs. To ensure that GMAT scores are sent directly to IIMA, please enter IIMA PGP-PMP Code: CQQ-RR:62. Candidates without GMAT/GRE/CAT may also apply but they will be short-listed on the basis of application rating for a specially designed test of IIMA to be conducted simultaneously at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkatta. All short-listed candidates are expected to spend a day at IIMA where they would meet with the faculty and attend an interview. The admission process will be completed by January 5, 2009. Selected candidates are expected to make their own arrangements for obtaining leave, etc. from their organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline and should have at least seven years of work experience by March 2009 in a supervisory / managerial / administrative position. Candidates with legislative experience are also eligible to apply provided they are (i) 27 or more years old, and (ii) have one year or more of experience as a minister at the central level or as a member of parliament or 2 years or more of experience as minister at the state level or as member of the legislative assembly / council; or have served for 5 years or more as councillor of municipal corporation or of jilla parishad. All candidates would have to have bachelor’s degree without exception. All candidates should have a GMAT/GRE score obtained between April 1, 2006 and November 3, 2008 or CAT score from any of the last three CATs. Those without GMAT/GRE/CAT will be short-listed on the basis of application rating for a specially designed test of IIMA to be conducted simultaneously at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkatta.

Selection of candidates for interviews and final selection for admission will be based on multiple criteria and not on any particular parameter. It is possible that candidates with higher test scores than those who are selected may not have been short-listed for interviews or offered admission.
