Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) Ludhiana is one of the oldest and premier technical institutes of Punjab offering seven B.Tech., MBA, MCA* and nine M.Tech. Note:

1. The eligibility criteria for Full Time M.Tech. is atleast 55% marks in B.Tech. from PTU or its equivalent. For Part Time M.Tech., the candidate must possess two years professional experience alongwith sponsorship by the employer in addition to 55% marks in B.Tech. or its equivalent.

2. Interested candidates are required to apply on prescribed Forms to Principal Guru Nanak Dev Engineering college, Ludhiana latest by 21.07.2008 . Applications Forms can be purchased from Nankana Sahib Education Trust Office located in the Campus of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College @ Rs. 500/- at counter and Rs. 550/- by post. Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- must be attached with downloaded application forms (www.gndec.ac.in) in favour of Nankana Sahib Education Trust payable at Ludhiana

Note :-

1. Date and venue of counselling is 23.07.2008 at 9.00 A.M. at Guru Nanak Dev Engg. College Ludhiana.

2. No separate letter for the counselling will be issued.

3. Candidates must mark their attendance at 8.30 A.M. sharp.

4. Candidates are required to bring their academic testimonials starting from Matric, 10+2, B.Tech. Degree in ORIGINAL along with their attested photocopies, including Detailed Marks Cards of all Semesters, failing which the candidate shall not be entertained for counselling.

5. Merit List will be based on the average of all Semesters.

6. Admission shall be granted subject to the spot payment of Fees only. Fees once deposited shall only be refunded as per AICTE guidelines.

Rescheduled Counselling Programme CET - 2008

REGISTRATION FOR Ph.D. ADMISSION – 2008

Applications are invited for Full Time / Part Time PhD programme in the following departments of the institute:

Mechanical Engg, Production & Industrial Engg, Material Science and Metallurgical Engg, Applied Mechanics, Civil Engg, Bioinformatics, Chemical Engg, Planning, Architecture, Remote Sensing and GIS, Electrical Engg, Energy Engg, Electronics & Comm Engg, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science & Engg (CSE), Computer Applications (MCA), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities, Management
Studies.

Eligibility: Master’s Degree in a Relevant Field and should have passed 55% marks (CGPA 6.0) or equivalent from a recognized university. Candidates with BE/BTech in a Relevant Field and having scored minimum 75% marks (CGPA 7.5) may be admitted directly to the PhD programme. Reservations are as per prevailing GOI norms.

In Management Studies, candidates having MBA/ME/MTech/MCA Degrees are eligible to apply. In Bioinformatics, in addition to ME/MTech Bioinformatics, candidates with ME/MTech Degrees in Biochemical/ Biotechnology)Bioengineering /ChemicalICSE /lT / Computer Technoiqgy / Computer Engg / Other ME / MTech courses under CSE and IT Departments / MCA / M.Pharm or MSc/ MPhil Degrees in Molecular Biology/ Microbiology / Genetic Engg/ Biochemistry/ Maths/ Physics Chemistry/ Statistics can also apply. In CSE/IT, candidates having ME/MTech Degrees in CSE/IT/Computer Technology/Computer Engg/Other ME / MTech courses under CSE and IT Departments/Electronics and Related Areas/MCA are eligible to apply. In Computer Applications, in addition to MCA, candidates with MSC/MPhil Degrees in Computer Science/Maths/Statistics/Operations Research may also apply. Students of one discipline may seek admission in a related department which will be considered on the basis of merit of the case.

Candidates waiting for their final results may be admitted provisionally. Such candidates will have to produce their Original Marksheets as Proof of Qualification within 45 days of their admission in MANIT failing which their admissions will be summarily cancelled. Request for Refunds in such cases will not be entertained.

Selection: Short-listed candidates will be called for Research Aptitude Test / Technical Interview/Presentation/Discussion or a combination of the same. Preparation of the candidate in the proposed field of research will also be assessed. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the above. Selected candidates will be required to take prerequisite courses and present seminars to fulfill course credit requirements as per prevailing norms.

Fellowship: Full time candidates shall be considered for Research Fellowship, subject to availability, as per institute rules. A student receiving fellowship or other financial support from the institute is required to assist her/his research advisor in teaching and research activities. She/He may be required to assist in theory, tutorial and laboratory classes and in student projects as assigned by the advisor.

Application Form: Completed Application on the prescribed form will be accepted. The Application Form can be downloaded from the Institute Website http://www.manit.ac.in (Preferable Mode). It can also be collected in person from MANIT Bhopal by paying Rs.50/- through A/c payee Bank Draft/IPO in favour of “MANIT Bhopal’, or through Post by sending a Self-Addressed A4 Size Envelope with A/c Payee Bank Draft/IPO of Rs.50/- in favour of “MANIT Bhopal’.

Submission: Completed forms can be submitted upto 16th July 2008 with a A/c Payee Bank Draft/IPO of Rs.750/- in favour of MANIT Bhopal” to Assistant Registrar (Admissions), MANIT Bhopal 462 051. The Envelope must contain the following header, “Application Form for PhD Admission in ______ Department’. Applicants must submit separate applications and A/c Payee Bank Draft/IPO of Rs. 750/- if they wish to apply to different Departments. Applications received after due date are likely to be rejected. No individual information for the interview will be sent. Interviews are tentatively scheduled in the last week of July 2008. The schedule of the Interview will be displayed on the Institute website.
