INTEGRATED FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMMES

Normal Duration: 6 Semesters

1. B.S. Engineering Technology (ET) 2. B.S. Information Systems (IS): Input requirements: Employed professionals holding a technical diploma or an undergraduate degree such as BSc with minimum two year relevant experience in Engineering Industries (for ET) or IT Industries (for IS).

HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMMES

Normal Duration: 4 Semesters

3. M.S. Manufacturing Management (MM)

4. M.S. Software Systems (SS): Input requirements:

Employed professionals holding an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as BE / MSc with minimum one year relevant experience in Engineering Industries (for MM) and IT Industries (for SS).

5. M.S. Quality Management: This programme conducted in collaboration with Indian Institute of Quality Management (IIQM), Jaipur, designed to enhance the management skills of Quality professionals, has mandatory intensive contact sessions for two weeks at Bangalore / Chennai / Jaipur / Pune from June 30 to July 12, 2008 during the first semester, and from January 05 to January 17, 2009 during the second semester. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as BE / MSc with minimum one year relevant experience in Quality and allied services.

6. M.S. Consultancy Management: This programme conducted in collaboration with Consultancy Development Centre, New Delhi designed to enhance the consultancy management skills of professionals working in consulting and business organizations. It is proposed to conduct Contact sessions on certain Saturdays and Sundays to be announced during each of the first two semesters of the program at Delhi / Bangalore / Chennai / Hyderabad. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as BE / MSc with minimum one year relevant experience in Consultancy and allied services. Candidates with MCom / ACA / ACS may also be considered on a case by case basis. If the situation warrants, the candidates should be prepared to appear in a written Test and Interview at their own expenses.

7. M.Phil. Hospital and Health Systems Management: This programme conducted in collaboration with Bombay Hospital, Mumbai / Indore and Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, designed to enhance the management skills of Healthcare professionals, has mandatory intensive contact sessions from July 01 to July 26, 2008 at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai and Indore as well as at CMC, Vellore during the first semester, and at BITS, Pilani (from January 19 to February 14, 2009) during the second semester. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding MBBS degree or its equivalent or an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as BE / MSc with minimum one year relevant work experience in well-established healthcare organizations.

BITS also operates several other collaborative programmes with many industries across the country in functional areas directed towards their HRD needs. Any organization interested in such collaborative programmes may write to the Institute for details.

Eligibility:
Admission to a M.Tech. / M.Tech (Research) Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying Examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of atleast 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme). However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 5.0 or 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates.

a) M.Sc. PROGRAMME : M.Sc. in Chemistry ( Two years – four Semester) (On self financing basis)

Eligibility :
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 60% of marks in the aggregate (in all the years of course of study in respective subjects).However, this prescribed minimum shall be CGPA of 5.5 or 55% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates.

1) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a Recognized University with not less than 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in the aggregate taking into
account the marks scored in all subjects of all the University Examination conducted during the entire prescribed period of the degree programme. . Final year
students can also apply but admission is subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

2) CAT 2007 Score

NIFT ADMISSION – 2008 for NRI/NRI Sponsored Category

NIFT ADMISSION-2008

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE APPLICANTS APPLYING UNDER NRI/NRI SPONSORED CATEGORY

A few seats are available in the NRI / NRI sponsored category for the regular programmes being offered by NIFT. In accordance with the guidelines specified in the NIFT Prospectus 2008, NRI sponsored candidates will be considered for admission, only after no foreign national / NRI candidate are available in any particular programme or vacancy due to NRI applicant not joining the programme. Who had appeared for the written examination.

The NRI/NRI sponsored candidates upon admission would be required to pay a sum of Rs. 3,18,500/- for each academic year of study.

Procedure for applying under NRI Sponsored category

(1) Candidate seeking admission under this category should apply in the prescribed application form downloadable from the NIFT website.

(2) The duly filled in application form should be sent to Registrar (Admissions), National Institute of Fashion Technology, NIFT Campus, Hauz Khas, New Delhi on or before 30th May, 2008 along with the following documents:

a. a letter from NRI who is sponsoring the applicant

b. attested copies of relevant pages of Passport and Bank statements showing sufficient funds of the sponsoring authority

c. Demand Draft of Rs.3000/- in favour of NIFT New Delhi payable at New Delhi

Procedure to be adopted for allocation of seats available under NRI sponsored quota to the candidates who are willing to seek admission in this category would be as under: -

First preference will be given on remaining seats to the candidates (desirous of seeking admission’s under NRI category) who had qualified the NIFT entrance examination and are placed in the waiting list during the counselling session.

Secondly the seats will be offered to the candidate who have completed the entire admission process and these candidates will not be asked to appear in the interview. They will be allocated seats on basis of their Waitlist Rank in the admission process.

Still if there are seats available the same will be offered to the candidates who have applied in response to our advertisement. The admission of these applicants will be based on their performance in a skill test and personal interview.

Admissions 2008 for First Batch of NIFT Center- Mauritius

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as a premier Institute of Design , Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in Fashion Business in the emerging global scenario.

NIFT has set academic standards and excelled in thought leadership by providing a pool of creative genius and technically competent professionals. Abstracts must not exceed 700 words. Papers will be selected based on the abstracts submitted. The abstract must include :

* 3 to 5 key words
* General topic of relevance for the selected theme / sub-theme
* Author’s name, title, organization affiliation, addresses (postal and email), phone/fax numbers, and
* Clearly delineated objective, scope, developments, and conclusions are to be covered.

Contributors whose abstracts are selected for full paper submission and presentation will be intimated by 30th June 2008.

Last date for submission of full papers/presentations : 15th July, 2008.

All paper submissions will be subject to blind review by multiple reviewers. Authors should avoid identifying themselves in the text or title. The Conference organizers will have the final authority over the review process and all decisions relating to acceptance of papers. Review criteria include originality of ideas, managerial and technical soundness, significance of results, and quality of presentation. Notification of acceptance or rejection of submitted papers will be communicated to the corresponding author.

Paper Presentation In Absentia :

Those who cannot come to the Conference for reasons beyond their control, but wish to present a paper in absentia are encouraged to send in full paper by October 1, 2007. Such papers, if fit in the conference theme and volume, could as an exception, be included in the conference proceedings. A processing fee of US $ 50 (Rs. 500 for scholars in India) should be included for each paper submitted for presentation in absentia.

Paper Presentation Schedule

Selected papers from the accepted entries will be invited for presentation in a 20 minute period including time for questions at the Conference Venue.

Best Paper Awards

Outstanding paper awards will be given to the best papers, one in each of the three categories viz., research, conceptual and student categories presented at the conference.

Conference Publication:

Conference proceedings consisting of papers which the committee would find to be enriching, would be published in the form of a book which will be released during the inaugural session of the Conference. The best papers may also be published in the appropriate ICFAI Publications.

It is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi under staff development programme. This course is designed to cater the need of faculty members of engineering & management institutions, scientists, managers and practicing engineers from industries. This programme will be useful for persons who are concerned with teaching and/or knowledge management group.

OBJECTIVES

This programme is essential for enhancing the vision of faculty members of engineering and management institutions by exposing them to the new development taking place in the industries/business organizations. In the globalization of business, it is essential for the faculty members to know that knowledge management practices have become more important and relevant in academic institutions due to its efficacy. There is vast pool of knowledge being created in engineering & management institutions through their academic, research, and consultancy work. Such knowledge needs to be necessarily captured and reused to improve the effectiveness of academic, training, and consultancy activities.

SELECTION & COURSE FEE

(a) For Institute/College faculty members only

The candidate should have B.E./B.Tech. in any branche of engineering. Preference will be given to the candidates with M.E./M.Tech. and MBA. Selection will be done by short-listing the aspirants.

There is no course fee for sponsored faculty members from AICTE recognized engineering & management Institutes/Colleges. They will be paid to and fro second sleeper class fare via shortest route and free boarding & lodging in the Executive Development Centre/MNNIT hostels. These candidates are required to get their applications duly sponsored by their Heads of Institutions. The applications should reach the course coordinator latest by May 20, 2008, giving the information as shown in the Proforma. The selected candidates will be requested to send a refundable caution deposit of Rs 200/- to ensure their commitment for participation in the course. This amount will be refundable only to those faculty members who will attend the course.

(b) For participants from Industries/R & D Labs

Private & public sector industries and other organizations are welcome to depute their executives, managers and engineers to participate in the course.

The sponsoring organizations are required to pay a course fee of Rs 5000/- per participant (excluding boarding & lodging) and Rs. 7500/- (including boarding & lodging in the Institute Executive Development Centre/hostels). Application on a separate sheet giving the information shown in the proforma should reach the Course Coordinator latest by May 30, 2008.

All payments should be made through bank draft payable at Allahabad and drawn in favour of “Director, MNNIT, Allahabad”.

The list of the selected candidates will also be displayed on the MNNIT website.
